August 1993 (and repeatedly for nearly a month). Funny, it didn't seem to bother me at the time.

I almost v*ed about 3 or 4 years ago. Staphylococcal food poisoning. How I suppressed one of those most violent forms of bacterial food poisoning I may never know.

Last time was 7 years ago before I gave up alcohol - too much vodka mixed with dodgey take away chicken and chips. NEVER AGAIN!

Angel, I am the same way. For me it was 1993 physically. I hate hearing about 1993now. I retched in March 2001, (didn't bother me at all, and I don't know why) and Oct 2003, I had a bug, felt like v*ing but didn't.

OMG KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!!!

I think it's been about 17 years since I last v*. I read somewhere that emetophobes rarely do.

I have had food poisoning before, but somehow I just make myself have d* instead.

I went 10 years, but then on December 17, 2003 I v* just after
midnight. Then again on December 18, 2004 from food poisoning but that
was only dry heaving because I slept the whole night after I ate the
crab stuffed mushrooms.. so it was too far down my digestive system to
come back up.

Since the incident last year, I have become completely obsessed with
not catching a SV. I wash my hands so many times a day after I do
anything. I take long hot showers immediately after school and as soon
as I come home from work. I NEVER touch anything I am going to eat. If
I can't use utensils, I wash my hands and hold the food with a napkin.
I'll do anything!! I'm trying my best... I was sick with a
respiratory/headcold type of flu twice in October... so hopefully my
immune system is stronger now!

I keep hearing that mildly exposing yourself to germs makes you more immune to them. I've also noticed that I get more sick the more I think about it. So now I just remember that V* is controlled by an area in the brain that emetophobes have better control of than most people. I can talk myself out of being sick better than anyone I know. Hence the 17 years without v*.

I'm new here - this is my 1st post and it seemed like an appropriate place to start. I've gotten sick once my entire adult life, and that was just about 3 years ago. Without revealing my age, because I'll come off as an old fogey, lets just say I went 32 years. The v word is not in my vocabulary and I could tell some stories about the many times I have willed myself from getting sick when I really needed to. I came here and read around some the night Denise Richards was on .. I think David Letterman or Leno, and she talked about having the phobia. I was dumbfounded - I really thought I was the only one.

Thanks for letting me share -

January, 1979. I was 7 years old and was watching a free HBO weekend. Have come close several times since, but believe my v* center has shut down. (good and bad because I still panic if I feel like there is a chance I may get sick).

They had HBO in 1979?? Wow, cool! I was thinking it didn't come until the 80's. I remember when I was little (early 80's) we had a trial of cable for a month and the movie "Mr. Mom" was on the whole time!

I love that movie! I remember one free weekend where the only thing they played was kramer vs kramer. I guess it makes me feel old thinking about it because that is when there were really only 3 or 4 channels plus PBS stations. Aren't those the things you always say you won't say to your kids..."when I was a kid, we didn't have cell phones, or the internet. Now clean your room." I swore I would never say that stuff. Oh well.

Haha! YES! I remember I wanted to see Kramer Vs. Krramer so bad, but my dad wouldn't let me because my parents were going through a divorce at that time and they thought it would not be a good idea!

Last time I v* was Feb. 13, 2003 from an SV my entire family caught, minus my middle daughter, we were all sick in the same night. But before that was when I was in second grade, which I can still remember was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving,so 17 years.

I've been a lurker on here for close to a year and have always had trouble registering. Until just yesterday! Hurray! I figure this is a good place to make my first post....

I really thought that I had a long streak going, but it seems like after reading all these on here that I'm not so unusual!

Last time I was s* was on Mother's Day of 1990. I've only done it twice in my entire life (I'm 23) and both times were early on a Sunday morning around 5 or 6am. So now I always get a little anxious when I lay my head down on Saturday night.... Sometimes I'll just stay up as long as possible, because in my head I think I am convinced that if I feel it creeping up, I can nip it in the bud, but if I sleep it'll sneak up on me and I won't have time to build up. :\
