    Default Pregnant emet!!

Hi! I am having very high anxiety at the moment. I have recently found out that I am pregnant for the first time, and I can't quite be happy for the fear and anxiety of how will I cope if my baby gets sick!?! My husbands response is "we will deal with it" but I am freaking out even at the thought! Help!!

Well first off congratulations on becoming a mommy! I know its so scary to think about, but you have 9 months to prepare yourself and your mind. Just know what ever your body does, its doing for the life you have created! Were all here for you if you need some support.
If you try and tell me a phobia is unreal. I dare you to live a day, and feel what I have to feel.

Honestly, you have quite a while to prepare for the 'what ifs'. 9 months for sure but then most babies don't catch that stuff during the first year if they aren't in a daycare environment or around others who are ill. Breastfeeding protects them from SO MUCH! Neither of my boys had a bug until they were close to two. Enjoy your pregnancy! You're going to be just fine.

I second Syrup's breast feeding tip. I caught a bug and was swamped in them with all of our kids but my daughter never caught them (or any other sickness) until she quit nursing at 19 months. I LOVE breastfeeding!! Lol. It's the one thing I love about my body.

Anyway, I am also pregnant now. It is scary, especially with your first, but somehow the mother instinct kicks in and you get through whatever you have to for your child. I had my first at 17 and have always been able to be there for him even in the most panicked of moments. Granted it isn't in the way that I would want to, like being the soothing, calm and comforting mom, but I've been there and done my best.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Trust me, as scary as the situations get with kids, they are 100% worth it. There are way more positives than negatives. Btw, I would love to go back in time, before I had my son, and get some help for my emet. This is a great time (plenty of good motivation) to get into a therapy of some kind. Good luck and you're not alone!

Thanks all for replies! I have had counselling, my emet is so deep rooted it's stubborn! I would have to erase the previous 27 years of my life to be free of it! I am sure the motherly care role will come natural to me, that's what I am telling myself! ATM I only have cats, and I don't mind cuddling them if they are sick, so hopefully I will be like that with my child instead of running for the hills if it gets a bug!! Thanks
