I saw that comment earlier and thought the same thing, but then got pre-occupied and didn't respond. Thank you for saying exactly what I would of said! Vomitting is not dangerous and won't kill you, unlike what smoking and drinking can do to you.

YEA DOUG!!!! i think it was highly inappropriate for everyone to ruin his celebratory posts. im sure at least one of you has had a panic post, and have gotten positive posts, in saying that, dougs was a positive post, for himself. that is something to celebrate. this phobia can be awful, but can also be managed. its not about "recovering" its about adapting and coping with a fear. allow him his joy...he has joy. that is awesome!! i know that i will most likely always be an emet, and im ok with that. i need to learn how to lead a fulfilling life while holding my fear at a healthy level. i am a victim of years of childhood sexual abuse, which led to me v* at every incident. so, i will not fully conquer my fear until i can heal from those years, which logically may be never. so before you want to give him a lecture on how its not healthy, think, and dont judge. this site is a place where we are made to feel like a part of something, with people who can relate. and even tho it may not be your way, doesnt mean it isnt right. i cannot believe that other emets would be so condescending about a positive post!! that is surprising, and slightly disheartening.

way to go doug!!!! keep up your positive outlook, cuz thats what its all about right, positive? instead of changing to someone elses standards, you are creating your own...and if you are happy, then you are healthy!!!

    Hi
I agree with this post too. I feel the same a Doug but I wish that I didn't because then I would consider myself to be a normal person and not someone with a phobia that is ruining my life.

I know how you feel I'm 41 and for as long as I can remember I wake up wondering how I feel, and go to bed hoping I sleep through the night.

Doug I think its great you've gone this long without v* now and you should be able to celebrate without people jumping down your back about it.. Some emets have to understand, although we do have the same fear doesn't mean we all cope with this phobia the sameway, maybe this is the way doug copes with it, doesnt mean he's telling everyone with this phobia to cope in this certain way. If this is his way of coping with this phobia for all these years then you should be happy for that person and not let your beliefs interfere with that, just cause you have a opinion doesn't mean it will work for someone else. I mostly see doug comforting people on this site then asking for help and im pretty sure he has himself under control. My point is respect eachother cause you have the same fear, doesn't mean we all agree on the samethings.. and the fact people are bringing smokng and drinking into this has nothing to do with this phobia, trust me my dad OD in front of me and I had to save his life only for him to die a few year later and for my sister who is still suffering to this day with a drug addiction is totally different from a phobia cause I've lived both those lives even without being on drugs just cause I haven't lived it myself doesn't mean I don't see what it does to someone , they might impact your life decisions but they are 2 totally different things.

I'd rather say to myself: 36 years of living my life and not thinking about vomiting.

    ... But that's just me
Taking a sabbatical from IES, moving on, and making concrete changes to live my life without fear.
Friends know where to reach me.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
