Hello everyone.I have just recently found this site and its nice to see other people discussing the same feelings as I have.
I am 21 years old,and know exactly how my phobia started. It was my First day at High school,I was looking to make a good impression,I wasn't too nervous but had a very sore head all throughout the day.I was getting through the day well, making new friends, meeting the teachers, untill about 15 minutes from the end of the school day in maths,we were told to hand our calculators back to the teacher at the front of the class.Everyone got in a line and I was at the back.Slowly the line moved untill it was my turn to hand my calculator back, but just as I put it on the teachers desk I threw up all over the teacher.Everyone in the class was either laughing there head off or going ewwwwwwe. This didnt help me as I was feeling very embarassed already. The teacher then got up and started shouting at me saying"why didnt you tell me you were feeling sick"(I did feel sorry for her).I didnt know I was going to be sick ,I had none of the feelings prior to being sick usually.
Now I am looking back thinking how one little thing has ruined9 years of my life.I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks really bad .I have never had a job,or much of a social life other than sport which is my saviour, luckily I am studying or I would go insane.I am thinking of going to a hypnotherapist to help me out.If anyone has any advice on thephobia feel free to email me.
thanks for reading

Well, welcome to our forums. I hope you find some support here. Its quite helpful to be with people who actually know how you feel.

I think we are all looking for some advice that will universally work but unfortanatly what works for one doesn't work for another. I have heard that hypnotherapy is wonderful and it is great that you are looking into cures for yourself.
I think that it will be key for you knowing when your phobia started as there are many of us that don't.
It is a pleasure to have you and I am sure that there will always be someone on here that will do what they can to help you, give suggestions and just be there for you.
I am 25 and have had this for 24 years with a few periods in between where it wasn't too too bad.
I didnt know what my conditions were till about a year and a half ago. I was relieved to find out that I was not the only one who had this and that what I had had a name. I knew that I had agoraphobia and was on meds for that I have never told my doctor about the emet but the meds for the agoraphobia seem to be helping me out.
I have been able to manage on my own from reading, herbal and aromatherapy but I am sure that I would be fully better if I went to a therapist.
Anyways enough about my life. It is wonderful to have you with us I am so sorry that you had to come to us with such a horrible experience. The reaction from the class and your teacher didn't help your situation at all and it wa unfare of them to react that way.

Oh you poor thing how awful for you. I know how mine
started, and I was only 4 when it did and I am 29 now. So I have been
living with this nightmare for 25 years now. However I must also say
that we are looking for the same advice. However feel free to contact
me, my contact info is in my profile. Best of luck to you.

that sounds like a horrible experience for you to go thru =(

but it cud be easier if you know EXACTLY where the phobia came from, and it was an experience TO DO with v*.... whereas with me... my phobia came from somewhere which has nothing to do with v*ing.

so yeah.. as melikasa sed hypnotherapy might be good, or any kinda cognitive behavioural treatment to try and get rid of ur ever-lasting feelings of humiliation and guilt that that one experience gave you.
