Hi - Ive just joined. I think I am probably a lot older than most of you fellow sufferers but just wanted to say that I have suffered with emetophobia since the age of 11 and I am now 53. However since 40 when I had a new doctor who prescribed Seroxat which turned my life around. For the last 14 years my life has been so different and from not being able to travel outside my front door, I have been all around the world including Australia. However my fears have raised their ugly heads again as I am due to have a minor op in 2 weeks time and horror of horrors, am having to have a general anaesthetic - and one of the things you can get on coming round is nausea and vomiting. Needless to say this has set me back and am currently in a spiral of nausea and panicking. I do not know how to cope with this as have forgotten what this phobia was like. The fact that I am typing this at 1.46am will tell you that it has completely disrupted my sleeping!

Has anyone else had to contend with an operation and being emetophobic? Would welcome any help as am scared stiff.
