Hi y'all,

Well, the book on emetophobia I was writing is finished!

For those of you who don't know what I am talking about: I am writing a book about emetophobia. The goal is to have therapists, doctors and family members understand it more. Allthough it is written 'in normal words', I have tried to make it as scientific as possible. I have done a lot of research on phobias and have done a survey on the members of the dutchemetophobia website.

I have written to 20 publishers with a summary (ouline) of the book, and there are allready 3 publishers interested. They asked me to send them the whole book. So I did yesterday! I am very excited about what's coming next! I really hope one of them wants to publish it!

    I will keep you informed!
    Margaret

Hey Margaret that's AWESOME. I can't wait...will it be published in English? Be sure to keep us all informed. And good for you for completing such a project - you're a very articulate person, so I'm sure it will be well-written and publishable. The fact you've got publishers interested is GREAT - that's very hard to do!

    Congratulations!

Thank you very much for all your kind words! After three years I still can be amazed how positive and kindthe people on this site are!

Sarah and Claire: I am sorry, but the book will be in Dutch, my own language. So unfortunately unless you speak Dutch it won't be of that much use to you. BUT... I think when I succeed in puslishing it in the Netherlands and it is a success, I am going to find myself an English or American publisher and translate it! So maybe some day...

And Sage - thank you very much for your compliments. I am surprised you think of me as articulate, because when I have to write in English I feel that I don't have as much possibilities to say something as I do in Dutch. And I am sure I make tons of mistakes. In Dutch I almost never do, since I have studied journalism.

And I do feel I have a chance to get it published. These three publishers seem to have an interest in the subject, that is the biggest step to take. The book itself is easy to read, scientifical based (as much as possible for someone without a scientific profession) and positive. I see two possible hurdles: one: maybe they want it written by someone with a scientific profession, two: I have written the book mostly for non-emets to understand it more, but also wanted to include tips for emets. So maybe they think I try to tell too much to too many different people.

Well, I have to wait and see... (and I am not good at being patience )
