Today at my counseling appointment I finally asked my counselor why she had to use the other counselors office. She said the business is moving to a new location and she'll have her own office there. I'm really upset that they are relocating. The new location is only about ten minutes from the old one but I was comfortable at the location because my aunt lives a thirty second walk from the offices. And if I was ever in the waiting room I could just leave and be in a safety zone (my aunts house). And the waiting room had a little bathroom right there and the minute you opened the door you are outside. I'm afraid this building will have a bathroom thats hidden from view, or it will be in a building where you have to ride elevators. I'm the type of person who needs quick exiting and I don't want to wait on an elevator if I'm sick. I hope it's a one story building and is layed out like the old location, but even if it is,...it's still a longer ride and my aunts house isn't a thirty second walk away anymore. *cries*

Maybe I'm being stupid, but would this upset any of you?

No I don't think its stupid at all, its become a familiar place where you feel safe and maybe your afraid that at the new place its going to be horrible as you just described with elevators and hidden washrooms, but try not to freak out until you do see the new building, and who knows, it might even be nicer and bigger (easier to breathe) and with lots of big windows!

Hey, its not stupid, i know exactly how you feel. Is it safe to assume that your counseller (sorry about the spelling) knows about your emet fear etc? If so then perhaps you could ask all these sorts of questions to them, if not perhaps you could expalin your fears anyway, and they should understand if they are good at what they do, and should attempt to put all your fears at rest anyway, they may even be able to draw the layout of the building or something....

    I hope this helps

This is not the least bit stupid. I imagine I would have felt the same way.

I hope you can talk to your counsellor about it, and trust her as someone who really wants to help you. If one of my counsellees needs something (for some the door to be open, or a window, or sitting in a different chair...) then I would do it no problem. Whatever makes them comfortable and helps. Hell, I'd carry out a counselling session in the hallway next to the bathroom door if I were treating an emet!

But my point is that as emets part of the disorder seems to be a mistrust of people in general (probably stemming from how our parents treat us/our phobia). But people really do want to help others. Sometimes it takes very very CLEARLY explaining what we need from them and why.

    Give it a try!
