I hate all food now! Grrrr!!!!!!!! This morning i made myself and my daughter some toast and finished the loaf off, i checked it was still in date. Then i ate one piece and when i got to the second i noticed there was what looked like mould on the side of it!!! I hadnt noticed it before i toasted it. I am really scared now that there was mould on the piece i ate or on my daughters pieces which she ate all of. This sounds pathetic i know, i am so paranoid these days. Will a little mould hurt me? Could it make me v*?????

I'm sure you would have felt it by now if you've eaten any mould!

And i very much doubt you'll be sick!

If the bread was still before the best-before date.. then i'm sure it will be fine

Even if there had been mould on the toast, it won't make you ill. You would have to eat a HUGE quantity for it to do that. Remember that penicillin is made from bread mould - the mould makes the penicillin naturally.

Relax and hang on to the fact that if you have eaten any mould, it was penicillin and not dangerous!

    Hi Sarahx

You said that you made toast with the bread didn't you.... then as far as i know any moldon the bread, if there was any on what you ate, and thats a big if, would have been killed from the toaster, and as has been said before it is extreemlyh unlikely that it would hurt you or make you ill, i promise....

Hope you are feeling a bit more at ease now.

    Cheers

I'm sure you'll be fine! I had an incident the other week where I ate a muffin my mum made and I noticed it looked a bit furry once I was half way thru it - you could only see the white fur in certain lights...Like you I didn't finish it - but I was FINE and I'm sure you'll be fine too (and your daughter).

As Jill said - its penicillin.

So consider it a step forward in "exposure" if you like - you ate mould and you were fine

I doubt it will make you sick. There was a guy on Ripley's Believe it or Not who eats meat that is literally covered in mould all the time. Not saying I'd do that but a tiny bit won't hurt you (besides, just because you find it on one slice, it doesn't mean it was on all of them) Stop worrying and thinking about it, you'll be fine

Jenneh is right, mould is pennicillin, can't hurt you. I know just the thought that you have eaten it is bad. I think a lot of people have probably done this at one time or another, probably unknowingly.

I'm sure that it's really only fish or meat that you need to be careful with food wise.

This question keeps popping up, thats not a dig at anyone, but it made me think, maybe we should put together a list of common worries and the answers to them and I will sticky it. Like Mouldy bread wont make you ill and no you cant catch a V* illness from your pet etc the stuff that people commonly worry about and that have simple answers. It would mean people could look at it whenever they get worried. PM me if you know any other common question or answer and I will make the topic later maybe.

Oh and nope no V* from mouldy bread!
