Can anyone help with some info???

A co-worker of mine (sits right next to me) had a tummy bug on Sunday of last weekend. She came into work on Monday (she was feeling better by then) but told me all about it. I figured since she was already over the illness - that she wasn't contagious anymore. Yesterday - her daughter came down with the same thing (they share a bathroom at home).

My question is this - is my co-worker contagious since she has been exposed to her daughter's germs? I know my co-worker won't get sick again -but can she carry the germs to us at work? I know that seems ridiculous but I have to know - I am a little freaked out that I am going to get sick now!

HELP! Any info you have would be helpful!

    Thanks!

    Hey there!

Well, Id figure since shes already had it, her body would be able to kill it pretty easily now, since shes built up the antibodies to that particular strain of stomach bug.

    Galadriel,

Thanks for responding. I was thinking the same thing but you never know right? I am hoping not to catch anything from her (not like I can help it if I do!) but I just wanted feedback on whether or not people thought she would still be a source of germs.

    Thanks for the info!

I've wondered that myself many times, I usually avoid people like the plague even if they had a sick kid and weren't sick themselves. It only seems logical to me that the germs come with her, esp. if she helped the sick kid, even though she won't get sick again. Anyone else have an answer? Because this is one question I've never been able to find an answer to.

Well, if she had been dealing with her kid, and didn't wash her hands, then she could be carrying germs on her hands and then touch things at work. But, if she's had the illness, I don't think she can carry the germs, because her body will kill them off, as she has the antibodies for them.
