    Hi all,

Well - I found out that I have a peptic ulcer last night. I have to say it scares me a bit but is also a relief - I have been battling some serious burning pains in my stomach (which always scare me even though I have yet to v* from it) and major heartburn so I went to the doctor last night. It is a relief to know why I am always in pain and feeling nauseous but now I want to do what I can to fix it. Does anyone else have one? Just trying to learn what I can so I don't eat foods that upset it!

    Any information would be helpful!

    Thanks!

    Oh
dear Jessica so sorry to hear this. How was it diagnosed? Did you have
a barium x-ray? Are they giving you antibiotics for it? I have never
had an ulcer but I had gastritis (stomach inflamation) before which is
similar in some ways. I mean how your stomach feels and stuff, very
sore and burning, not fun and yeah there is some n but I NEVER v'ed
from it. They gave me prevacid for it and it helped but yeah stick to
bland, anything not bland might reaggrevate it. Let us know you are
    doing!

Jessica- Do not worry. I have 2 ulcers, and have had them for quite a long time. They are not respondant to medication, as they are caused by stress and not foods. I was on a medication, Pariet, but it did not help.

Anyways, to save me typing a long explanation, just visit the website that helped me.

Let me know if this helps.

well I think sunshine has the helpful tips covered so I will just say I am soo sorry that you have an ulcer. At least you know what it is now and I am glad that you went to the doctor about it.
I have ulcers too and I think 1 or 2 more than I had since the last checkup but there isn't anything more that can be done whether it is 1 or 3.
are you on meds to help you out?

Best wishes and hope that you are feeling better soon

I have an ulcer that has been treated twice with Prilosec. It would go away for a while but it comes back. I do notice that when I am on a low carb hi protein diet I don't suffer near as much.

So sorry you have one. Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks for the information everyone!

I am currently taking Prevacid once a day and I am already seeing a difference. Like I said - knowing what the problem is was half the battle for me. I am happy to report that I am doing somewhat better!

Thanks for your advice and sympathies - I hope to continue feeling better as each day passes!

    Ah-ha!
Prevacid is strong and great huh? Yeah I had to take that for my
gastritis a few years ago. You will be in fine shape in no time! Glad
    you are doing well.
