Does anyone else always seem to be able to hear right away if someone even says the word "vomit" or "throw up" or whatever else? I always here people say it, even if they're ina completely different conversation across the room, or behind me, or even while walking around outside? It's not like I'm always listening out for the word... well, maybe I am, but I don't neccessairily think about listening out for it- but I always pick it up, even if whoever says it isn't talking to me. Does anyone else do this?

grr this happens to me all the time! I was shopping a few days ago and overheared this woman talking about her child saying ' yes, he was v* all night long' And sometimes when I'm just walking around I hear the word and I have to find out who said it, I almost try to hear some more.

But I'm sure it doesnt help. I was in a shop and a woman said that she had just coughed up some nastyness(she didnt say nastyness, I do) I was thinking of the great timing! grrr . Its annoying, but maybe we do listen out for it, or maybe we imagine we hear it when we're in a group of people. hmmm

Oh
yeah I definitely keep and open ear. If I overhear someone saying that
someone was sick, I keep on waiting to hear the rest and 90% of the
time the term is used! Morbid curiousity I guess.

My ears prick up at the sound of anything like that. Today this customer walked past me in the shop at work and mentioned that she had "felt ill all night" and I listened to hear her finish the sentance with "must have eaten something dodgy". Its weird cuz I hadnt heard any other part of her conversation. I think its on our minds all the time, even if we arent thinking about it at that moment.

YES! I always do. I always try to hear what they are saying, if I hear "sick" or "V*".

When I saw this topic, I thought it was going to be about, can you tell if someone is going to V* or whatnot. And Yes, I can do that too...I usually can tell if someone's feeling ill, or theres a bad situation.
.I just want to feel safe in my own skin. I just want to be happy again. I just want to feel deep in my own world. But I’m so lonely I don’t even want to be with myself. <3

YEP!!!!

if im reading a book, or walking in the street.. or sitting in the classroom at school, the words "ill" " vomit" "sick" "throw" will ALWAYS seem to jump out ... they seem to be sed in slow motion!!!

its twisted...

must be an unconcious thing.. cause i can be having a conversation and then suddenly get distracted by that one word... hmph.

if i read a book, and the character in the book is sick, i find myself morbidly combing the paragraph in which they were sick. is that strange?
i don't know, we are certainly more suseptable to picking up on the v- word, even if we're drifiting in and out of conversation.
We're so sensitive to the situation, that picking up on it, comes as second nature.

I am exacly like all of you too! It's like I am passing by some one and I hear the word v*...I'm like? WhoWhatWhenWhere WHY!!?!?! I ask a billion questions just to make sure that I wasn't around them, don't see it and stuff like that but most importantly check to make sure it's not contagouis.

Yeah, aswell as hearing whenever anyone says the word I must know how long ago, what caused it, etc.

If I hear my brother or parents say it when they're downstairs, and I'm in my bedroom upstairs, I'll have to rush down and see what it's all about. I don't know how I hear it when I'm all the way upstairs, but it seems to be about 10 times louder than any other word.

Oh yeah. In fact for some reason my ears perk up instead of shutting down. Glad to know it isn't just me. I tense and listen if I hear a sound like someone says they felt sick, feel sick, is sick. Or they feel funny. I heard my husband say that the other day and immediatly I jumped in to to find out how it was that he didn't feel well.

lol sarah- i do that aswell, im paranoid that people will be sick around me.
I was sat next to my nephew in the car the other day, and he was surrounded by travel sickness pills. I was watching his every move..although i couldn't face asking him whether he was actually feeling ill.
It kinda helps reading books which perhaps hve the occcasional v- in them, because the writers don'tsensationalise it.
I don't know if anyone else finds this?

i think its like when some1 says your name- you zoom in on it- if i'm totally paranoid about some thing i did/or that happened or that could happeni can hear people talking about it or relating to it all the time- wether it be about me or some1 else-

maybe we're morphing with technology- built in radar systems hmmm...just imagine how cool it'd be if we had built in cellular fones!!!
