    Hey all,

Well I had something in my foot (some sort of splinter or
something), so I'm sitting there picking and picking at it so its
bleeding (sorry), and man I think I got most of it out but I was
starting to feel kind of queasy.

Can this happen when your doing something that kind of hurts like that
and keep doing it? I mean it was just a splinter, but I think the
repeated gouging at it and it hurting just urgh....or it may be a bit
    of IBS.

Yes, pain can cause nausea. I know when I have had to have blood drawn and they have trouble getting it, that makes me queasy.

Well, it wasn't really seeing my own blood that bothered me, just the repeticious gouging pain was starting to get to me.

I wonder what the connection is to pain and the stomach?

Thats what Im talking about when they are trying to draw blood. Its not the sight of my blood that bothers me, its if they have a hard time getting it and they are trying to go deeper in my vein or something, that hurts bad enough it makes me queasy.

I had an ovarian cyst and it was hurting so bad it made my stomach hurt. Also once I fell and dislocated my knee and my stomach started to hurt REALLY bad. I had a friend who fell and broke her tail bone and she said the last thing she remembers before passing out from the pain was getting really queasy, so yesit is possible to feel sick from pain.

I have chronic pain and yes, pain can make you nausated. I was told when I had my ankle accident that because of the level of pain and nausea I experienced, they thought I had broken my ankle --- simply because I wanted to V* due to the pain. V* is a common sign of a broken bone. I didn't actually break my ankle, but I ended up doing some serious soft-tissue damage that has left me with a chronic pain disorder.

Pain definitely causes nausea. Also the sight of blood can cause nausea too!

Yikes... I wonder why pain makes the stomach nauseas? Why doesn't it give you a headache instead?</font></span>
