i havent been diagnosed, as I dont really want anything stuck up my bum,,
but i was wondering if some of you who deal with it could tell me if you think these symptoms go along with it...

-incessant d* for probably 4-6 weeks
-significant loss of appetite for the past 5 months
-lots of intestinal gas, and really just gas all the time
-nausea and dizziness, of which may or may not be relieved by having a bowel movement
-weird (not painful) cramping under my ribs randomly. sort of feels like hunger, but can sometimes occur directly after eating, so...
-random loose stools, or after integrating different foods into my diet

    eh?

I havent been properly tested or diagnosed with IBS but have had discussions with the doctor who believes thatis what I have.

The symptons you have are similar to those I suffer with. Its on and off but more so this time of the year. I think its because IBS is worsened by high anxiety and stress levels and this time of year is not good for us emets!!

If its making your life difficult you should get some advice.I am aware of some food that screws me up so I try not to eat too much of it.

Hope this helps, if just a little.

I have been officially diagnosed with IBS. You don't get the "stuck
up your bum" tests, you get the Upper GI tests when they are testing
you for it. (Drink barium and take x rays). Anyway my classic
symptoms were d* on and off ( never consistent for weeks), lots of
gas and burping, heart burn, sour stomach feeling. Lots of stomach
feeling sickness and PAIN. If you think you have IBS, don't be afraid
to go to the doctors, one appointment and they can give you meds to
make it all go away. stress, caffeine, smoking, greasy foods are all
    big contributors, especially excessive weight.

I have to say that there is no "one" cure all for IBS. IBS is used to describe a variety of intestinal issues under one broad category. Ive tried every medication under the sun, and nothing has worked, untill I read about calcium on an IBS board.Instead of have problems 100% of the time, I am only sick ( diarreha) about 10% of the time, and thats when I drink caffine. Calcium might help you, but you may have to try several drugs to find one that works. because IBS has so many causes ( and they arn't sure of what exaclty they are), some meds may work for some, but not all.

I was diagnosed with IBS about 5 years ago, and went though a small bowel follow though, and an upper GI ( both involve drinking the barium and then they follow it through your system and take xrays as it travels). It really isnt that bad. I was scared, but it was painless, but your stool may be white for a few days.( funny).

again, you should see your doctor. He can you find out what exactly it is in your diet/ stress that gives you symptoms.

I've beenstudying somewhat in my neuropysch classlately why people that are high stressed have digestive problems. apparently inpeople that are highly stressed, their sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive ( which controls digestive functions) because of the need of fight or flight sensation all the time. Its really interesting stuff.
