Well, this is my question....does anyone else here feel that they can cope more with sickness....sv/whatever else....better in the summer or winter...i feel that in the summer i am better with it b/c if it happens to me or anyone else in my house...at least i can go outside and spend time outdoors. I know that sv's are in the summer just like they are in the winter...but i always just feel more able to cope with it in the summer. Just wondering about anyone's thougths on this...thanks.

No such thing here. I worry about v*ing whether it be froma s/v, f/p, med. reaction whatever 365 days of the year. However, I tend to worry less during the summer because I know s/v's aren't as bad in the summer as in the winter. The s/v seems to creep up here, where I live, around the 4th of July for like 2 weeks. It seems like its pretty consistent for as long as I can remember. I'm still 'alert' in the summer but I tend not to take some many precautions as in washing my hands every 5-10 mins. and so forth.

Yeah, I know that the bugs are around all year round...but i just feel that i can cope better in the summer, i really don't know why...i think it's b/c i just feel better all around in the summer....i hate winter not only b/c of the stomach bugs...but b/c it's cold...and miserable...and it's dark and gloomy and i just am so depressed in the winter...so it's double the worry about being claustrophobic stuck in the house and it's dark outside and all that junk...And in the summer it's light outside longer and it's sunny and i just feel better all the way around....but i can see your point.

I hate the thought of V* in the summer because it is so hot outside, i feel like there is no escape to fresh air... in the winter at least you can get cold, fresh air. For some reason, hot air doesn't seem as "cleansing" to me.

I feel better in the summer because I don't feel so closed in. In the summer at least I can open my windows for warm fresh air, go outside and sit, I feel more free. Yes you can get sick in the summer but not as much in the winter!
Bring on summer because I can't wait!!

Kate everything you said is EXACTLY how I feel. It helps me so much in the summer to know I can go outside if I am anxious or ill. The warm air is like a security blanket for me. I am sooooooooooo depressed from Oct-April. I can't wait for summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually May to the end of September are about the best. for I know anyone can get sick during those times. My son got pneumonia on July 4th a few years ago - go figure. However, the days are long, the weather is warm. You can go outside and just be...... The leaves and flowers make the air so fresh smelling. The heat just burns up the germs.

Wait, I gotta stop---- I am get spring fever too quickly. May is a long way off.

Summer for me! I know the bugs are still around but at least you can have doors and windows wide open with air, not just stuck in hot houses with germs festering away!

I wish there was a place that didn't have any s.bugs - I would live there in a flash!

I definitely have a much better time dealing with things in the summer. Although I have problems all year around, I find that my attitude towards being ill is much more positive in the warmer months. For a long time I had this strong belief that I would somehow be much better off if I lived in Cal. or Fla. or somewhere that had a warmer climate. And it really caused me great depression. I really think that spending a great deal of time doing outdoor activities in the winter has really helped me to not dwell on the seasons and allow it to aggravate my phobia. I've spent an average of 5 days a week in the outdoors during Oct-Jan for the past few years. In the beginning I would have great anxiety aboutbeing outside in the cold and often wet fall and winter days. But now I am past the anxiety and worry. I still wish I lived in Florida though! The summer will probably always bring mea relief. I would definitely suggest trying to find an outdoor activity that you canenjoy in the winter. I really feel it's alot easier to deal with it being outside than it is to dwell on it while sitting inside.

I live in Florida, and I must say that it is nice to be able to sleep with your doors and windows open in the winter. It does get cool here at night sometimes in the winter though. The sunny days do help my mood though. We moved here from Indiana, and I know how depressing the winters are. I hate how it got dark early and it just looked all yucky and gray outside. I was very depressed and anxious a lot and didn't want to do anything. I hardly went outside. Since wemoved here, I've been doing a lot more.

How is the stomach flu's in the Florida area? Is it the same like the places where they get snow? I mean Outbreaks. When I was 10 I felt that when I am old enough I am moving down there because it is always warm and there are no stomach flu's. That was coming from a 10 year old. The only sickness the Brady Bunch kids got was the measles? Maybe Cindy had her tonsils out I can't remember.

I honestly don't pay attention to what's going on here as far as the flu and stomach viruses go. I just don't pay attention. I'm sure there's stuff going around. I just like the fact that wecan keep the windows open if we want to if we don't want to put the air on. We have the air on rightnow. It's too muggy out. All I know is that the sun does wonders on my moods. I'm depressed like I was in IN and that makes a big difference. I think a lot of the reasons why there is a lot or moreof sicknesses in the winter time is b/c everyone is locked indoors with the windows shut. No fresh air.

i always feel so much better during the summer! about four years ago i had a terrible summer..my sister v*ed from eating pizza that i didn't even eat, and that happened in june, right after the school year ended. the rest of the summer, until i went back to school in september,i barely even left my house because i was so afriad of getting sick (and i can't eat pizza anymore either!) after i got through that summer without v*ing i sort of convinced myself that it's harder to get sick in the summer. i know it's not necessarily true, but summers are definitely much easier for me!

I think things are better for me during the summer, I worry less about my kids too, although they have on occasion V* in summer. For me, nights are always the worst, in summer the nights are so much shorter and that helps. The sun comes up around 4.30 so if i wake and see the daylight, I'm less likely to panic.

Hi thestruggle: Where are u at in IN? I'm from Highland, IN. About 40 minutes south of Chicago. We live in Sarasota now. We're about an hour and a half south of Tampa. We're by all of the little keys like Siesta Key, Lido Key, Longboat Key, etc. Siesta Key beach is supposed to be one of the most beaches in the US or the world. I forget, but the sand is pure white. It looks like snow and it is so soft.

You don't sound like a weirdo b/c I love Fall and we don't have one here. I also like snow storms. That's one thing about living here. No seasons. The temp varies, but that's about it. Green all year round.
