ohhhkaaay...I just walked into the bathroom at work and there was a girl laying on the floor with a trashcan next to her head looking miserable. Needless to say I walked right back out. I should have asked her if she was ok, but I'm sure you can all understand my mindset at that moment.

I work in a student union building of a university so of course all the bathrooms have traffic constantly all day long. it is so disgusting...not a day goes by that I don't walk into a bathroom that reeks or has pee on the toilet seat or is just dirty in general. I hate it. Unfortunately I am drinking water all day long so I usually have to go 6 or 7 times during the day. If only I could have my own private bathroom!!

I know what you mean, and Im just talking about work toilets.

One of my team came in today after having 2 days off with a sv, I asked how he was and he said he still keeps v* and kept doing it all day today. I kept saying he should go home from work but he wouldnt.Being female I didnt have to visit the male toilets but am still intotal panic about it getting to others in my team and eventually me being exposed to it.It just seems like some people are really inconsiderate!!

I dont know how I even managed to get thru school but that was before I knew what my phobia meant.

Dont feel guilty about not asking if the girl was ok becos I would have ran out of the toilets!!!!

public bathrooms is one of the reasons that i came home after a semester of college in upstate new york! it sounds ridiculous, but i didn't see how it was fair for my parents to be spending all of this money to send me to school where the toilets and showers are so repulsive! every week, someone else was sick, either with a sv or just from drinking too much, i couldn't handle it.

I do always wonder if I'm oging to walk in a hear something but we can't elt it rule us right?! Anyhow, I'm sorry that happened today. Someone needs to hire more mainanence for your school! Yuck!

Ugh, I cannot imagine being sick enough to lay down on the floor of a public restroom.

The bathrooms at my office are cleaned at least twice a day. I have never really noticed them ever being bad before. Luckily, I have never walked in on anyone v* in there either, although I know of other people I work with that have. In fact, before everyone knew I was pregnant, one girl actually asked me if I was pregnant and if it was me v* in the bathroom because she walked in there and heard someone. She knew I would probably be the next in our group to get pregnant (she was right!) so she figured it was me in there. If only she knew!

One of the biggest things I have been dreading about being pregnant is having to use public bathrooms more often. I hate doing it, and used to do it as little as possible, but now it doesn't matter if I go before I leave the house or not, in the middle of a shopping trip, I have to go again! I can't wait until sv season is over!

How big is your campus? I've found that if there's a lot of buildings
it sometimes helps to use the bathrooms that have less traffic to them.
For example I hated the bathrooms in my dorms or the student center.
Often I'd use the one in the bottom floor of the Marine Sciences
building. I don't have any classes in that buidling but it's right next
to a dining hall so I'd often go in there before eating so that I could
use the bathroom and wash my hands.

It's really only professors and students who use that bathroom and
there aren't a huge number of them in the Marine Sciences department. I
mean there's enough, plus your occasional off the street people like me
but it isn't a heavy use public bathroom. Maybe if you find a couple
buidlings like that on your campus you could use them.

PS: I'm not criticizing you for walking out on the girl. I would have
done the same but if something like that happens again you should make
a call to 911 or the University Police (if your campus has them) and
let them know someone might need help. If someone is lying on the floor
of a bathroom there could be a chance that they're seriously ill, and
just leaving them there could mean real trouble...possibly even fatal
trouble. If you're too afraid to call 911 yourself because you're
worried they'll want you to go back in and check her then go tell
someone who works there. Let them know someone is sick in the bathroom
and you think they might need help, then you can leave knowing that you
haven't left anyone in danger.

Ugh, I'm with you mjewell, public loos really suck!

Sometimes you'll find a really nice one. Often in the upper floors of huge fancy department stores they'll have them (only ever called 'Rest rooms'), and they're REALLY nice. If I'm in town, I usually try to hold on until I can find one of those...there's one I like in David Jones in the city which actually has a little lounge area, with carpet and nice 'moodlighting' and big mirrors...it's beautiful, I could sit in there all day, lol!!

But eww, the normal, icky public bathrooms..? No thanks! I really am scared to lower myself onto the seat sometimes, just thinking about everyone who's used it before me, and what they've used it for! >____< Sorry about the imagery!

Blondie, it's too bad emet is keeping you from getting an education and advancing in the world. When I was a freshman in college, I think my emet was at its worst, but luckily I had my own apartment and I wasn't so upset by all the vomiting on campus. Still, I had to be in just the right state of mind to go into one of the dorms. I think a good defense mechanism is to tell yourself that the evidence of puke you see was caused by drinking and not something contagious.
