    //--> I've
    been prescribed TETRALYSAL (an antibiotic; part of the tetracyclin
    group) to help heal my "acne" (it's a slightly different skin
    condition, but I won't bore you with the specifics) but, of course,
    side effects listed - nausea, v*, d*... and antibiotics are known for
    upsetting your stomach.

    I spoke to the pharmacist, and he said that this drug was quite mild,
    and the only upset stomach he'd heard of was indigestion/bit of d*.

    My doctor was SO horrid though. I explained that I didn't want a
    drug that was gonna make me really n* because I was emetophobic.
    He laughed at me, and said, "I think everyone is emetophobic! No one
    likes to be sick!" in a really condescending voice. Luckily he's
    not my regular doctor, but I wish I'd told him where to shove it.

    Anyway, what do you guys think I should do? I really should take the drugs, but I'm scared...

    I know you are scared, but if you really think about it, most drugs list nausea and vomiting as side effects. Along with a whole bunch of other things. They have to cover their behinds "just in case" someone does have a side effect. If your pharmacist told you that the antibiotic mainly (if anything) causes indegestion and diarrhea, I would listen to him. Try not to let what this doctor said to you make you feel bad, just remember he is not your regualr doc!!!!

    As leigh said, every drug (even antiemetics) list nausea and vomitting as side effects- not only is it there just in case, but during clinical trials guaranteed that one person has these symptoms (even if it isn't necessarily linked to the drug), so bam, in it goes.

    If you need to take it- take it. Pharmacists know what they are talking about, as they dispense so much of this stuff on a daily basis, and the potential of possibly getting an upset stomach shouldnt stop you from taking something you need!

    Yeah I agree with Jenny. They have to list those as possible side effects. The medication I'm on now has that as side effects but it never made me sick, just drowsy. I wouldn't worry about it. You should be fine.
