My daughter's school allow them to take a small soft toy to school each day, so today my daughter took a toy to school this morning. When I collected her at 3 oclock she was carrying the toy in a plastic bag and said it had fallen down the toilet and was still wet. My heart started beating fast at these words especially when she said she had put her hand down the toilet and pulled it out. ughh! I am now worrying about all the germs in the toilet and what if the previous person to use the toilet had d* or was getting a sv*? I quizzed my daughter as to how well she washed her hands, but I bet she did not wash them that thoroughally.

I had to stay as calm as possible as I do not want to make my daughter scared to use the school toilets as I was always scared to use them. In fact I did not use them at all. I always suffered with water and kidney infections and had to have several ttrips to the hospital as a child and still wonder if this is the reason why. I just cannot stand school toilets or any public toilets for that matter, which is probably why I am so upset by my daughter putting her hand down one.

Why do I have worry about such silly things? My daughter is probably exposed to much worse. I just hope she has not caught anything.

Throw the toy in the dishwasher or washing machine, whichever is more appropriate. Use this opportunity to talk with your daughter about washing her hands better and then, if possible, just move on from the situation.

How old is your daughter? Hopefully the teacher/ aide made your daughter wash her hands thoroughly - which they probably did if you daughter told them where she found her toy. I know that all the kids where I have been teaching know EXACTLY how to wash their hands (even the littlest ones) and are constantly quizzed as to if they did it and are watched after they use the bathroom.

Toilets aren't really that bad at schools - unless someone has recently gotten sick in them and not flushed it. Toilets are cleaned every night at public schools too.
I\'m always a shade of purple...
