    Hi

I have just been searching and have found this website and joined. I have read through many of the topics and iam so reassuring to know that iam not mad! I have been having real trouble with my phobia and much like some of you people that know about my fear of being sick think it is just a phase. I know that it is not a phase and that it is slowly taking over my life. Im so frightened all the time of anything that might make me sick. I am particular scared of what i eat making me sick.

I just cant believe that there are lots of other people out there feeling similar things as me! Any word of wisdom will be appreciated.

It certainly helps to come here and share your thoughts and worries with people who can totally empathize. You don't ever have to feel alone, there are so many friendly and supportive people here always willing to offer help.

The one thing that has given my emetophobia less power is being open about it and not bottling things up. I always thought nobody would understand how I felt and that I was the only person who acted so bizarrely over something as simple as vomit. I remember the feeling when I discovered it wasn't just me who felt this way (hurray - I wasn't mad afterall!!!)and that this phobia is infact quite common! Now I no longer feel embarassed to admit how much anything to do with vomit bothers me, most of my friends and family know about it, and it helps.
