Okay I had this store bought jar of vodka sauce that I used on some
pasta for lunch today. Well a few minutes ago I saw it in the trash and
my thought "oh god, don't tell me!"

So I asked my mom why she threw it out and she said "Because it's over a week old. I don't trust it"

Well I believe it's actually over 2 weeks old, but....I mean no one
told me it wouldn't last longer then a week! It's been 5 hours since
lunch and I haven't felt sick. Does that mean I'll be fine? If
not how long do I have to wait to find out? Please someone respond!!!!!

I have stricter rules on what I will and will not eat from the fridge than most members of my family, yet they rarely get sick with ANYTHING! I would say just to take it easy on your stomach until you know for sure.

I don't know what vodka sauce is. Does it have meat in it? I have a 3 day rule about anything with meat and a 4-5 day rule about stuff with just veggies. However, most of the things I eat stay only 3 days.

In terms of foods I'm continuiously eating from the fridge like jams, sour cream, spreads... I go 1-2 weeks - depending on its expiration date and how frequently I'm using it (some things just take longer to use, even if I use them daily). Jams/ jellies/ butterusually stay about a month because that is how long it takes me to go through them.

Keep us posted on how you are feeling and doing. You should be okay. Just because your mom doesn't trust it, doesn't always mean there was anything wrong with it.

No, it doesn't have meat in it. Tomatoes, garlic pieces, herbs, vodka flavoring, and various preservatives.

I'm usually strict too but since it's meatless and store bought I was
treating it like I would a salad dressing. It didn't occur to me that
it would be bad unless it had been in there a couple months!

I wouldn't really panic then. No meat - did it taste okay? And how long was it open for?? I mean, if it is like a salad dressing... those stay open for a couple weeks easy.

You will be just fine. There are preservatives in it I am sure to give it shelf life while on the shelf. Doesnt it say "Best if used by..."

Dont worry sweetie...you wont get sick!

I think you will be fine, I bought pizza sauce in a plastic bottle, and it said best if used within 2 weeks of opening, and pizza sauce and pasta suace are usually made of the same sorts of things!!

Well it's been 8 hours now and I still don't feel especially bad. I have sort of a foreboding feeling but nothing else yet.

I looked up the ingredients and the only thing in it that I worry might
spoil is that it has heavy cream in it. Other then that it's just
    veggies and herbs.

8 hours is a long time. Just keep yourself calm and you should be fine.
