I like to work out a lot, and in fact I did it a lot more before my emet got really bad (about 2 years ago). Does anyone else have this problem? I mean sometimes in the middle of a workout I'll all of a sudden get a wave of panic/nausea and I have to leave. Then as soon as I get home I am fine and wish i could finish my workout. I especially have problems doing crunches/ab workouts because A.) if it causes my stomach to hurt the next day I am convinced i am sick and B.) emets and their stomachs are very delicate situations and who likes to mess with that! Does anyone else find that their emet bothers or interferes with there physical activity such as working out or cardio? It is really a pain in the butt. Thoughts?

When I work out I really don't have that problem, because I'm very good at diagnosing what 'type' of nausea/stomach pain I am experiencing- I can tell the difference between feeling sick due to illness, and feeling lightheaded or dizzy due to getting off a machine too quickly or doing too many reps. I also make sure I have some cold water with me, because if I start to feel a little off it helps.

The only time I was really green in the gym is when I used to rowing machine- I have really bad motionsickness, and I don't know what the deal was, but the machine was so convincing to my body that I actually started to feel sick. I thought it was just a fluke, but no, it happened the next time as well. Weird, eh?

I have trouble working out for this exact reason, but I get nauseated because I'm dehydrated. I have never really be a fitness buff or anything - yet I am wanting to start exercising - but I'm afraid to.

Ive never really had that problem, sometimes I might get a little nauseated during working out and that was right after I had some sips of water, but I figure it's because I'm being active and trying to digest something, so my body is being a pain for a little bit. If you focus on what you're doing for your body, the pain you experience with your crunches won't be so bad. It's not that you're getting sick, it's that your muscles are sore from being worked out and it's just their protest, but that means you'll be getting stronger for the nexttime, and you can go a whole lot farther.

Right now, I'm trying not to get bored with my workouts...I've slowed down a little bit but I am determined to get the flat abs I've always wanted and to get slimmer for summer! Keep hydrated as best you can, which means drinking as much water as possible outside your workouts, which can help with the soreness.

I get n* when I exercise so gym class is kind of stressful, contrary to what it is supposed to do, so I dont give it my all.

well, since I dont' really have a fear of myself being N* I'm not really worried baout me pushing myself too hard, I'm also really good at not pushing myself too far. But the bad thing for me is thinking baout others that might not know their limits or push them to the point where they get sick!

Has anyone watched The Biggest Loser, the weight loss show on NBC? I wanted to warn people about that because there are some people who are pushed to their limits and beyond, and because their bodies aren't used to that, they will get sick. If you're not comfortable with it, you can wait until some of the later shows, where they're starting to get used to working out. It usually only happens in the first show, when they're making them run and climb for the first time.

I used to get so agoraphobic that I couldn't go to the gym at all (back when my anxiety was bad). I couldn't even go for walks or runs around my neighborhood because i was afraid of getting sick and not being near a bathroom. Same with the gym. Finally I just started forcing myself to go and actually doing somewhat intense exercise helped a lot - like jogging on the treadmill. I would get the treadmill closest to the bathroom just in case, and chew gum (gum is a must for me!) I would tell myself to just do it for 5 minutes and if I still felt panicky I could leave. Most of the time theendorphins or whatever would help relax me after my 5 minutes was up- well, not relax, but my heart rate was up and I was sweating so i couldn't focus on anything else!

Eventually i got a lot better, but I just had to take it slow for a while. There were many times I went home after only about 10 minutes at the gym, but that's ok...every experience helps, just don't give up.
