Now, I love my coffee. I LOVE it. But I have found that If I have coffee any time other than the morning (especially night) it causes me to get nausea and a little heartburn, which can be terrifying for an emet. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know what to do because like I said I love love love my coffee. Thoughts?

I drink anywhere from 1-5 cups of coffee a day, and I find that if I drink it on an empty stomach it does make me feel a bit nauseous (sour stomach), or gives me a headache. When that happens, I find drinking water and eating something absorbent like bread really helps. I also carry some chewable pepto if it gets really bad.

Coffee also dehydrates you, which can cause nausea in and of itself (the 'hangover' feeling- it dehydrates you much in the same way alcohol does). I try to make sure that for every cup of coffee I drink, I drink a glass of water. It really does help.

I get this to, but not all the time. I drink alot of coffee, and only once in a while, it will not sit on my stomach right. I don't know what causes this for me,but when it happens, my stomach is upset almost all day.

Don't be surprised about feeling various stomach problems from coffee. I have heard this from non-emets just the same.Coffe issome abrasive liquid, especially on an empty stomach. I'm always saying this, but when my IBS was severe, I couldn't drink it at all because it gave me stomach pains. I switched to tea.

Caffeine can do this to you. I know for me, I can drink it in the morning, but if it's later in the day, I will find myself anxious and upset.

I'm always so busy in the morning, though. Maybe I don't notice it. But, I'm with ya, I LOVE my coffee. Especially Tim Horton's (you Canadians know what I mean!!!)

It is related to the caffeine in it. I get the same thing when I have too much soda with caffeine. It stinks.. I know...

I cannot drink coffee in the morning anymore or anytime during the day for that matter b/c of the caffeine. It makes me too nervous. So, since I like the taste, I started buying decaf. No more nervousness

Oh. I've gotten bad stomach pains from it too. Then it usually led to d*. So, I finally said screw it. No more coffee with caffeine. It's not worth it to me

I ususally don't have a problem with coffee, but last night it gave me some heartburn. I think it was because I had lasagna for dinner and it is already acidic then adding the acidic coffee. I usually only drink 1-2 cups a day and ususally not at night. I know that some other people who drink coffee a lot all day long tend to get d* from it. It has a laxative effect in larger amounts.

Yes! I love coffee, but have been trying to stop drinking it, because I know how icky it'll make me feel, 85% of the times I have it.It makes my stomach gurgle something chronic, and just makes me feel n* and jittery. Which is a pity, because I love the taste. Tea is a better option, if you want a hot drink! Too much of that might have the same effect, but it's much easier on the stomach.

Yeah, there is something in coffee, not just caffeiene though that is a
huge component, I believe that acts an appetite suppressant, can give
you minor stomach problems and stuff. I know if I drink a cup of coffee
on an empty stomach, the hunger goes away and often leaves me feeling a
little ill; this happens to a lot of people I know.

Tim Hortons is the best!!!! I have to drink decaff tea and coffee. If I drink too much caff- coffee and tea i have the heart palpatations. Decaff coffee and tea do not bother me at all. I find decaff-green tea is the best for me
