Hi. My name is Josh Templin and I've been an "emet" for as long as I
can remember, but only recently looked into it specifically. I go to
Penn State University and I'm 19 years old. I am a professional writer,
but only as an intern, and I hope to make a carreer out of journalism.

I am joining here because I truly need a support group. Being at
university has given me plenty of new friends, but most are not very
    supportive of my fears.

My fear is entirely of me... doing that thing, and not others. Also, I
am a very logical person, so I think that helps (but we all know how
hard it is to be reasonable ALL the time.)

I don't like to use euphamisms for the V-word, but if you would prefer, I can gladly oblige.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope to gather support from all of you as well as help others with their fear.

Welcome to the site Josh! You will find tons of support here, everyone is great!

As for the v word. It doesn't bother me personally but since it bothers some I choose to write "v*" out of compassion for those not yet ready.

    I'm glad you found us!

hey josh- welcome to the site!

I hear you about the problems relating to being emet and being in University (lol, I'm actually writing this from my laptop in the uni library- SHH!). I also pride myself in being a fairly logical person- which gets me out of a lot of issue relating to this fear. It's good to be able to think you way out of problems.

As for using v* for vomit, among other short forms, I try to avoid it doing so because it reinforces the idea that vomit is something to be feared (so feared and horriblethat it shouldn't even be written down). If you feel like doing the same, you won't be penalized for it- I believe that many members do so because it's shorter to type, lol. I think we had a few threads about this issue, and out ofthree thousand or so members, only 1 mentioned it bothering them, so you should be in the clear.

    Once again, welcome

Hi Josh and welcome to the site! I've been an emet for about 32 years and although I consider myself a logical person logic knows no bounds when it comes to a phobia. I do think we are capable of calming down by trying to use logic in most vomit situations. I too fear myself vomiting. Anyway forgive me for being off topic but I see you go to Penn State so I must say in lieu of Super Bowl Sunday

    GO STEELERS!!!!!
