Is it just me, or is nighttime the worst for this emet?

It seems like almost every night when I'm in bed before I fall asleep I
am fine for awhile, then my stomach just decides its going to start
acting up and so then I won't be able to sleep for the next hour or 2,
or 3. Its nuts because I'm perfectly fine, then it just kicks in and
makes the next few hours awful until I just get so tired I fall asleep
anyways and always when I wake up in the morning I am fine. I've had
this trouble for years on and off, I guess now is an "on" time for some
reason. Does anyone else get this, and does it drive you nuts?

Hi yes I am exactly the same. i lay there and think what if i wake up and am going to v*. I know the reason because 90% of the sv's i've had i have woken upin the middle of the night and had to rush to the toliet, it is just horrible because you had no time to prepare. I generally only have panic attacks at night, I hate it!

Yeah, night time for me too. I have panic attacks in the day sometimes but far more at night. I can lie awake for hours, afraid to sleep. I too think it stems back to when i've been ill in the past and 99% of the time it's been at night, waking up after a few hours feeling really bad.

I have a harder time at night because thats when my anxiety is its highest. Im afraid of one of the children waking up sick, or me. Ive gotten to where I stay up really late til I am just dog tired and then I go to bed. This time of year is the worst for me, as it is many emets. I used to not fear the summer much, but after that one I had last year, Im wondering if I will ever get a break from sickness!!

I cant sleep, too. Sometimes I am awake all night and abut 7AM start sleeping.

Its terrible. I am tired all the time.

And the night is the worst time for emets...

I also find nighttime is when I am most anxious. My tummy seems to gurgle all night and every time I hear a sound I think it is one of my children ill. I have to have the t.v. or radio on quietlyfor background noise otherwise I worry even more. When my husband is home from work nightimes are even more scary. Everytime he turns over in his sleep I think he is ill. I end up sleeping right at the edge of the bed just in case my husband gets ill in the night. How irrational is that?

When I was younger it was so bad I had to take tranquilizers which only made it worse because then I thought feeling tired was associated with being sick. I would stay up ontil sunrise and make my mother stay up with me on a regular basis. Of course this almost made me fail a few grades and such. Luckily I think(hope) I have outgrown that behavoiur although I do know what you guys mean about nighttime, I think its because it would be so unexpected and I'd be afriad not to make it to the bathroom or to have to wake up my father to clean up for me when I'm at his house.

Hi, I always tell my husband that it is at night when all my "demons" come out!!!! LOL. Night time is the worst because you feel alone, like you cannot call anyone like you could during the day. But keep saying to yourself that you are fine and you are not going to let this ruin your night. It's hard, I know.

But yes plus me being filled with wind 99.9% of the day doesnt help

I think that night is so bad for us since we are asleep and have no control when we wake up feeling sick. All day, when awake, we can deal with N* and stuff since we can focus on other things etc. While asleep, we can wake up suddenly feeling like V* coming on and you don't have much time to regroup or anything, so you can't talk yourself out of it as easily as daytime. I know I can stay up for hours if I am really stressed and just wait for day light and I sleep with the T.V. on all night as well, so it seems more like a distraction if I do wake up.

Yeah I think part
of it is that at nighttime there is nothing to occupy you, you just lay
there and that seems to leave it open to all sorts of thoughts. I feel
bad about this, but like my husband will want to snuggle up and sleep
that way, but I always feel better when I'm not entangled so if I had
to get up I could easily. I'm not sure what to do about this, but I
don't like feeling trapped there if I needed to get up fast.</font></span>

Just last night I ate dinner way too late, and I too need about 3-4 hours of not eating before I can sleep. I ended up not getting to bed until 3 hours after I normally do, and today I feel horrible! The last few days have been really long and stressful and my eating schedule has been messed up, which ruins me. My stomach is still hurting, but I'm at work!

Night is usually the worst, but at least you are usually at home, which makes me feel "safer".

Yeah for me the night-time anxiety is the worst! That's why my intro
post was posted at 2:30 this morning. For me it stems more from the
fear of waking up with an SV and not from it having happened (that only
happened to me once).

I guess I am totally different. Nighttime is my most relaxing time of day in most cases. I kow I don't have to go anywhere, I am safe in my own room, and sleep is often an escape for my anxiety. Of course, I only live with my husband, no kids. If I had kids I would probably be a lot more nervous at night, since that seems to be when uh-ohs happen a lot.

Now mornings used to be a different story for me (thanks to meds I rarely have anxious times of days anymore). I would feel so sick upon waking...even before I fully awoke ,y stomach would be so full of butterflies that i would have D* first thing. I would always feel nauseous and gaggy...awful. I guess it was in apprehension of the full day ahead, going to work, etc.

However, if I am feeling sick at night I tend to get a lot more anxious, just because it is so quiet and Iif I do need to get up and be sick or do my panic rituals I don't want to wake up my husband - need to be alone. I usually have to go sleep on the couch with the tv on or have him move out to the couch so i can have the room to myself.

I start to get anxious right before dinner time. Then I'm worried if I should eat or not, just in case... A few weeks ago, I was having trouble falling alseep because my stomach would go CRAZY at night. Thanks to the awesome people here, I started to take baths at night, and do things to take my mind off of my stomach, like paint my toenails and stuff like that. I really can't wait until spring, cause then I will relax a bit more.

I'm with mjewell, for me nightime is fairly relaxing. I'm either in my apartment or my boyfriend's apartment, and have virtually no emet-related anxiety. Of course, as Suze can attest to- I generally don't sleep much (usually head to bed around 3 or 4 am), so sitting in bed worrying is not really an option.

When I'm up an about, I am generally more anxious about everything, both emet-related and non- my evenings are the times in which I wind down and relax.

I used to be fearful at night. I know I have read many many posts about this. I guess because "it" seems to hit at night. I guess.

I am NOT fearful of that anymore YAY!Edited by: madisonsmom

I too am panicky at night all because of the same reasons as everyone above

-scared my daughter will wake up with it

-scared I will wake up with it

-scared of being alone and no one to talk to or help me out (since my husband is unsupportive)

-IT happens at night almost all of the time
