He works at a retail store and each department has a cell phone to carry around with them. Today, a girl in his department came back to work after calling in sick for the last 3 days. She claimed it was a sv, although my hubby said she seemed fine. Well, she got in first, then my hubby got in a few hours later. He said as soon as she handed him the phone, he took it to the aisle they carry lysol in and sprayed it down! He never gave it back to her for the rest of the day. He would just transfer her calls to another phone. He's not an emet or anything, he just did it so I would worry less. Isn't he sweet?!!

he sounds like he's got WONDERFUL intentions, but do you really think he's helping by adding to your aviodant behaviour?

he gets an A+ for being considerate, though.

This is exactly what I wanted to say but couldn't figure out a way to do it. So babydoll, you stole the words right outta my head

I think it's sweet that he's doing this so you would worry less, and I'm sure heonly has the best of intentions- but I think stuff likes this reinforces the phobia, and the fact that any possibility of coming in contact with someone who *may* be sick, even indirectly, should be avoided.

Babydoll and crimgoddess - I see what you mean, but right now I am not ready for the exposure. Overall my emet has been getting better, but I do not feel like I am at the stage where I want to just sit back and see what happens. I know my immune system is down right now being pregnant, and I told him that he is going to have to be careful after the baby is born (make sure he washes his hands between work and playing with the baby, etc.) and not just for sv but for everything. In a way, it just shows me that he is really thinking not just about my emet, but about health in general, getting ready for our little one. I don't really see a problem with it - it's not like he refused to work with her or anything. That would have been a little too drastic (although it's something we all might consider doing). You guys are right, eventually, if I'm going to get completely over this, I am going to have to stop avoiding everything and face my fear, but for now I am happy with my progress and happy that he is so concerned with how I feel. It wasn't always this way with him, so I just feel like he is really tryingto be supportive and understanding and I really appreciate it.

That is really sweet and thoughtful for your husband to do that. My husband can be an ass on purpose when it comes to my phobia. About a couple years agoin the winter when I just got over a very bad tooth infection, we decided to do some shopping. I haven't been outside in awhile b/c the infection kept me in bed for about a week with a fever. So, when we were out, I knew my immune system wasn't the best at the time. When we got home, I asked him to wash his hands b/c of all the germs and what not. You know what he did? He said, I'm not afraid of catching things or germs and instead of washing his hands, he LICKED them right in front of me. I thought that was so gross in general and disrespectful to me He just laughed. Nice, huh?

    Princessmel,

Yes, I do think your hubby was an ass doingthat! I hope you tried to explain to him just how disrespectful and gross that truly is. Does he have any idea how much fecal matter is on public surfaces? Forget about emet - that's just crazy to do all things considered! Ewwww!

Yes. He was an ass for doing that, but it was an only aone time thing. He's never done it again. Maybe I should mention the fecal matter on public surfaces.lol He should know that though. So many people don't even wash their hands after they go to the bathroom. Gross!!

I'm glad it was just a one time thing. I've seen on Oprah and I think 20/20 where they've swabbed door knobs, escalator rails, cabs, movie theatre seats to test for germs and it was AMAZINGLY gross the things they found. I've seen it many times, ladies leaving the bathroom without washing, just makes my skin crawl! No offense to your hubby, I have one of my own who definitely doesn't have exactly the same hygiene habits as I do but he's improved since we've been married. Must be the years of "wash your hands!!" he's heard.
