Hi everyone I just wanted to let you know about an extremely explicit v* scene in Pink's new music video "stupid girls". It was the first time I'd seen it or heard it before, so, loving the song, I watched it. Not cool. It you ever end up around it....make a speedy exit when you see 3 girls in a bathroom. I won't get into details. I also won't get into WHY ON EARTH people feel it's necessary to put v* in the media....it's a real shame because I love Pink's music and I think the song has an awesome message...except for THAT scene. Anyway just wanted to let you guys know about it.
Cheers

The media will do almost anything to garner ratings.
Quite frankly, I find this disgusting..

Just because WE have this phobia, we can't expect all forms of media to not show vomit. People have extreme phobias about many things- including clowns, dogs, spiders- and even classroom chalk! The media can't be expected not to show any of these things either.

I think the scene in Pink's video actually serves a good purpose- the point of the video is to show howsuperficial and assinine young Hollywood is. People like Mary-Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton, alongwith other disgustingly emaciated celebrities are icons for teen girls- by showing how un-glamourous things like an eating disorder are, and that these people should not be idolized- it serves a powerful message.

In case any one is curious about the video, you can watch it here:

It's one of my new favourites....even with the vomit scene. I didn't find it to be that bad- it doesn't hurt that when Pink does it while she retches she says "I wanna be skinny!" which completely cracked me up.

LOL, that is pretty funny. I like the part where she is making fun of Paris HIlton on a soapy car and falls off. HA!

LOL- she is actually making fun of Jessica Simpson's video for These Boots Are Made for Walking. Man, I hate that orange-fake-haired-no-talent ______<insert naughty word>. The fact that she made her career by being a ditz on a reality tv show burns me.

hehe- glad you found the video funny

Bwahaha! Thanks for sharing, Amber, that just cracked me up. The whole Jessica Simpson bit, sliding off the soapy car = priceless!

Good on her for making such a statement, because it's so true! As for the v* scene, I was ok with it - I seem to beable to handle seeing v* when I know it's fake =] Thanks for the heads up, hannah!

Lol, I was with friends and a guy had dl'd this video on his laptop. And we were giggling away at it and suddenly my friend jumped up looking very alarmed, covered up it, and told me to look away!!

I have wonderful friends lol!

But I admire Pink for speaking out against the sort of... twisted morals of Hollywood. She also did this in Don't Let Me Get Me... If I remember correctly.
I traded my dreams for this mess of memories,
And they just stopped working for me.

yeah but a lot of people dislike v* even tho they aren't phobic, a lot
of people would find it tasteless, whereas many people think dogs and
clowns are cute...even my doctor told me he dislikes seeing people
v*...to me it's the same as showing any bodly function be it urination,
defecating or bleeding heavily on daytime tv...i don't know if i've put
my point across clearly or not, but i just think it's unnecessary to
show so much v* in the media...

Yeah I agree. They don't show ppl's diahorrea all over the tv do they? Why v*? I think you'll find most people are disgusted by v* scenes anyway...whether phobic or not! Oh well, good exposure, I suppose

It just seems to be a trend right now (v* in the media). You never used to see that in the past even in a movie, never mind on TV. I have become pretty good at predicting when one is coming though, but every once in a while i get caught. But recently my therapist suggested that watching these scenes may be a step in the direction of becoming less phobic. Anyone hear that before?

Jason - yeah, the exposure therapy to desensitize yourself. I think there are a lot of threads about that on here, maybe in the Treatments section, but I dunno. Haven't looked it up as I don't think I could do that sort of therapy yet.
