v* is vomit, some emets have an issue with the word, so out of politeness and kindness it's written v*. I always seem to forget, though. =\
And, I suppose I cope with it by just being like extra carefull with everything I do.
Making people check down public toilets, opening doors with jumpers, washing hands more than should be possible, running frantically if somebody feels poorly =p
Just that sort of thing, and I think the fact that I don't keep it to myself helps.
You?

You probably don't want to know what I do... because I panic almost every single day of my life and at this point in the year, my anxiety is so high that I'm dropping weight and not sleeping and suffering from freezing cold hands and feet!

My job deals with working with kids and adults, often who are sick. I teach. It is so hard, but I love my job. I just have to stay focused on the task at hand, which is educating people and not taking care of sick kids.

I am also a hand-sanitizer junkie! I have no control over how the house is cleaned because my grandmother (the person I live with) has severe OCD and won't let me clean how I want. I just keep my hands clean and try and not touch my mouth face.
I\'m always a shade of purple...

I carry Tums with me at all times in my purse in my car
in my coat pocket. If I feel really sick I eat one. And I have found
its stops the feeling almost within secounds. Seems to work for me.
Becuase acid is what causes you to v* Tums stops the acid and makes it
imposible for you to V* and it has calcuim and is good for ya
anyways.</font>

I have lots of little coping techniques like carrying round my little box of pills and anti-acids when I go out, avoiding places where v*ing people are usually in abundance (eg. fairgrounds. amusement parks), and taking extra hygiene precautions when around somebody with a virus. The one thing that has helped me cope the most though, is being openabout my fear of v*. I kept it a secret from everybody until I was about twenty three and discovered there were other people who felt the same as me, so I didn't feel so weird. No longer being secretive about my fears has given the phobia a little less power.

Hello all, I'd have to say that over the years I've picked up many
coping mechanisms. First and formost is just plain telling myself that
everything will be alright and that v* is not the worst thing in the
world that could happen then depending on the situation I do stuff to
take my mind off of it, like if I'm feeling sick I take a bath and read
in it, the warm water helps me to relax and usually settles my stomach
and then reading takes my mind off the anxeity. If I know someone else
is getting sick I usually just avoid where they are and then themselves
for some time while trying to focus on other things like listening to
music or talking to people so on and so forth. Unless I'm really
feeling sick I try not to medicate, run away etc. because I feel that
just reinforces the fear. I often at least try to do stuff even if it
may involve v*, alot of the greatest times of my life would not have
happened (camps, partying, bus trips) if I hadn't tried and only a few
times I have encountered v* and guess what? it wasn't really that
bad! Also, like tcsarah said I try to be open about my fear and
most people are understanding and then they know to avoid me if their
feeling ill. double bonus! lol

I could probabley go on forever but that's about it for now.
