We went to my parents house to watch the football game and about halfway through he got up to go to the bathroom and was gone forever! When he came back he told me he was okay, but then later said his stomach was a little upset. We didn't stay for dinner like we were going to, then when we came home he went again and said he had d* now. He still doesn't feel good. When I ask him how he is he always gives this weird pause then says "okay" just yucky. He claims it was probably the chips, popcorn and Dr. Pepper he ate during the first half of the game, but I don't see how that would 1) hit him so fast and 2) do that much damage. Now I'm sitting here wondering if it's a sv. Ugh! I hate this time of year! I was cuddling with im during the end of the game because he said he was fine, but then it turns out he just didn't want to tell me. It's been a 2 or 3 hours since it started. Do you think if it was a sv he would be really bad by now? He hasn't gone again and he is just playing on the computer now . . .

I think it could be the chips etc, grease has a way of bothering stomachs, especially if he hasn't gone for 3 hrs. Keep w/ precautions etc but I'm pretty sure he's ok. Seriously if the popcorn was buttered plus chips are greasy and soda is carbonated it very well could have bothered him even that quickly.

I think if it was a sv he would have had the v* first before the d*, or at
least had the v* by now. If he ate all of that crap on an empty stomach
it could very well be that. I agree with the pp though, take your normal
precautions, but I think you're both probably fine - just tell him to lay
    off the junk food!

Still no v* - no more d* so far either. He isn't acting like he has in the past with a sv. He was just looking through the kitchen trying to decide what to have for dinner. He wants something light and easy, but I guess the fact that he wants to eat at all is a good sign, right? I just hate the stress of this season. Bring on summer!

SV's usually come on fast once the symptoms start. I think he is going to be fine.

Sometimes a soda can upset the stomach for no reason. Chips and other junk food on an empty stomach can easily cause stomach problems too. Hopefully it was just what he ate didn't agree with him or maybe it was something else. It is a good sign that he is looking for something for dinner. Keep us posted!

I think he's doing better, but I feel a little off now. My stomach is really gurgly and just not right. On top of stresing about my husband, my favorite pregnancy symptom of constipation has returned in full force. I feel horrible. I have been trying "natural" remedies like apple juice and a lot of water, but if that doesn't work soon I think I am going to have to try the stool softener my doctor suggested. Has anyone ever tried Colace? She said it is really mild, but I had a bad experience with Metamucil so I am really hesitant to try anything new.

Just want to add that almost the exact same thing happened to me last Sunday! My dad had a bunch of people over to watch the football game (when the Bears got eliminated! Waaa!). He decided that we wouldn't need dinner, just a lot of junk food! (Typical man party, huh?) In the middle of the night, I woke up with bad d*! I was afraid it was something really bad, but I know it was from all the junk I ate! So, I'm sure he's doing better today...right? Hope so, and I hope you feel better, too!

I never knew that about popcorn! The pop he drank was actually Dr. Peppper which has prune juice in it and I'm sure that didn't help.

I am 15 weeks now and starting to get so uncomfortable. I hate the fact that none of my clothes fit but maternity clothes are still too big. Ah! I think it will be better when I'm huge!

I didn't know Dr. Pepper has prune juice in it! How strange!

I'm glad he's feeling better and has had nomore episodes. I hope you start feeling better. I have never taken a constipation medicine but if the doc told you i'ts ok for pregnant women than I'd think it would be pretty mild.

I actually feel really awful today, but I don't think it's linked to hubby's problems yesterday. I think things are finally starting to move, little by little, and not too pleasantly. I got a little nervous about it at first, but then I felt a little hungry so I am hoping it is just the constipation. Even though my hubby hasn't appeared to have any other problems, when I asked him how he was this morning he gave me this really long pause before saying "okay I guess." Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I can't help but wonder if he's hiding something from me.

Sodas are terrible on your stomach in general...I play golf and I use Coke to clean the metal on my golf clubs!! We also use it to eat away at the corrosion on car batteries!! If coke can do that to metal and corrosion, imagine what it does in your stomach!!! People with IBS...stay away from caffeine and sodas, its kind of the cardinal rule of IBS. It makes it sooo much worse, especially d*.

I would give the Colace a try. It should work.

Constipation can really make you feel bad. I have been having problems with it too. I have been eating salads and All-Bran bars with raisins in it and that helps.

Hope you feel better soon and get thinks moving.
