Yet another bad night. My husband and son have been ill with a flu type virus since Friday. My husband is much better now but my son is still not too good. Now my daughter has started with it and is really resless tonight. She says her throat is really sore and coughing makes her feel sick, so I am already waiting for v*.

I am feeling so alone with everything at the moment as my husband can not understand at all how I feel and thinks I am acting weired. The more he thinks I am being weired, the worse I feel.

I know I sound this all probably sounds silly and does not make much sense, but I needed to vent. I just feel so alone and panicky at the moment, just going through the motions of every day life but not enjoying it like I used to. I feel really guilty as I have a lovely family and 2 adorable children but I just feel so low.

    curly hun im here ~*~hugs~*~

first of all thank you so much for the msg hun that means alot

hun you havea brilliant family, and you are a wonderful mother, this is just hard for you, even though your husband can not relate to the situation which is a shame yes but not knowing what is going on with everyone at the moment in your family isnt helping anything.

you have every right to vent feel low and feel slightly as if things are getting ontop of you, we all understand hun..

As i said in the email last night you know where I am if you need "anything"

Now lets hope and fingers crossed that your daughter doesnt v* but if she does and it is caused by her coughing then atleast you know the cause of the v* so try to sooth her cough and prevent it hun as best you can.

Keep us updated on everything, hope you are doing ok at the moment,so sorry to hear that this is going on hun, thinking of you xx

    Hi Curly Wurly!

I know what you are going through right now as I am feeling the same way - really anxious and panicky. My daughter had d* Friday night and most of Saturday and my stomach was feeling pretty bad too. Now today my daughter is again sluggish and complains of a sore throat. Just as I finally calm down - my husband tells me that he has really bad stomach pains and feels like he is going to v*! So I'm so scared that what my daughter and I were feeling the past 2 days is just the start of the sv* for us and now my husband is getting it too!!

I know it's easier said than done and I'm trying so hard as well - but we both needto try and calm down! i feel so quilty myself for doing this and acting like this - but I'm sure you are also a great mother so don't feel down on yourself! It happens to the best of us and this site is full proof. We can't help our fears!

I hope your family gets better soon! And you can always PM me if you need to talk!

    Thanks aarl3

Thank you for ypur kind words, I really hope you and your family are feeling better now.

My daughter got up fine this morning, my husband is almost back to normal but my son is still quite bad with a high temperature and bad cough. he is very off his food which is unusual so I am a bit worried. I will take him to the doctors if he is no better tomorow.

I have also come down with it today. It was bound to happen. My head, throat and chest fell bad and I feel really drained, but at least I can stop worrying now we have all had it. At leas it is not stomach related though I do feel quite n* with it but I think that is just the cough.

I really hope your family are better. Try and stay calm and good luck.

Thank you as well Curly Wurly!

I am feeling better and my husband made it through the night without v*ing, but he does have alittle d* today. My daughter's belly is ok, but she now has a very bad headache, a sorethroat and a low grade fever. UGH!!!! This never ends!

    How is your family doing?

    Ugh cold/flu seasn sucks!

Curly, I'm glad your hubby is doing better and your daughter didn't v*. It's already been said but if she did it would only be fromt he cough. I had a friend who everytime she got a bad cough would v*.

aar13, I'm glad your hubby got thru w/o v*. Could your daughter have strep or soemthing? I've seen alot of mom's on here who's kids get stomach problems when they have strep?

Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon!

    Thanks SimplyMe and aarl3.

Well it has happened. My son coughed until he v*. I just about managed to cope, now it has happened to me. It was really unexpected. I could not stop coughing then I knew it was going to happen. Anyway, I am alright now, just feelinglight headedand I have a really sore throat. i am panicking that one of the children will wake up in the night coughing and then v*. I wish I could get some sleep as I really need it but I am just worrying too much.

I had such a bad cough a month or so back that I was almost V*. I was like just ready for it to happen because I was so tired of coughing, but I didn't let myself V*. I paniced and then didn't allow myself to cough either --- I know... bad me.

I wish I could stop the cough, as I am a bit scared it will happen again, but I am much more scared of one of my children coughing till they v*. I just wish this horrible flu bug would go and then maybe I could relax a bit and get some much needed sleep.

    Thanks again aarl3

How are your family doing? I hope they are getting better.

It is unusual for the whole of my family to get ill and almost unheared of for my husband to be ill though he is as good as back to normal now. My daughter seemed to have a milder dose of it and hopefully she will not get any more symptoms. It is just my son and myself who still feel lousy. I think I would feel better after some quality sleep but instead I am worrying as usual.

Hi Curly, thinking of you, you've had such a rough time lately. It does sound like a bad flu virus...i've only had proper flu the once and i remember being scared to cough just incase...i had to prepare myself mentally, go to the bathroom and cough over the loo! Were you actually sick from coughing? If so, how were you? Was it as bad as you thought?

Anyway, really hope you all pick up soon, it's a lousy time of year but only a couple of months until spring.

Take care, look after yourself, and try if possible to relax...now your husband's feeling better, try and put your feet up!

    Thanks Suze

Yes I was actually sick.I managed to make it to the loo.It scared me a bit but I was more worried when it happened to my son. I am trying hard not to cough as I do not want it to happen again but I can not stop the cough. The thought of it happening again is more scary than when it actually happened.

My husband is his usual sympathetic self thinking it funny because I have lost my voice. He has been a big help around the house though.

Well done on coping..i haven't been sick in a long time so i'm not sure how i would be...it is worse with the kids though, i think it's a control thing with me becauseI don't know if and when it's going to happen. If I was told that my son was goin to v* at 3pm tomorrow, then again at 7pm, I think I'd be ok..it's the not knowing.

Anyway, if you're ill you should be in bed, LOL. Get some rest. Hope tomorrow you all feel better.

I think I agree with you Suzeabout lack of control with children V*ing. If I knew when it was going to happen I could at leat be prepared and then know it would be over.

I am going to try and get some sleep now. I made the mistake of having a few short sleeps during the day. Although I feel really tired I am worrying and coughing too much to sleep, but I will try as I am sure I need it.

Well I did not have the best start to the day. I woke up coughing and could not stop until it made me v*. I am starting to panic about it happening again. I have had bad coughs before but I can always stop myself from v*ing. Now it has happened 2 times in less than 24 hours. I feel so weak and the thought of food is just making me feel sick.

The rest of my family seem much better today. My son is still a bit off his food and has a cold still, but his temperature has gone and he seems so much happier today, so that is good.

I really do not know what is going on, but I am having yet another bad night. I decided on an early night and I had just dozed off when I woke up coughing. I could not stop and knew it was going to happen again. I got in a real panic this time and tried everything to stop it, but it happened anyway. That is now 3 times this silly cough has made me v*. I can put up with all the other aches, pains and fever from this horrible virus, but I am getting in a bit of a state about the V*. I was even starting to feel a bit better this evening, but now I feel terrible.

To make things worse my son just woke up all hot and in a state. When I asked him what was wrong he held his tummy so I am just waiting for that dreaded call tonight.

Today I have been able to rest but tomorrow my husband is on a work related meeting in London so I will be on my own which means I have to go out and take my daughter to school. I am worrying about passing the virus onto other people at the school, but since I only have to leave my daughter in her line in the playground that should not happen. My worse worry is that I will cough until I am sick again. I have to be alone if I v*. I know it is unlikely to happen in the 20 minutes it takes me to get to the school and back but I am still worrying. My thoughts are so irrational at the moment. I wish I could stop worrying.

So your coughing is making you gag, which is making you V*? Arrrggghhh.... I felt the same way and was miserable. I could not stop coughing and all I did was sleep because somehow the sleeping made my cough go away, well - most of time.

Can you take anything for your cough? Are your sure it is your cough making you V* and not something else? I hate to think that way... but do keep us posted. Have you called your doc to see if there is anything he can give you and your son?

I really hope it is the coughing though I have felt quite n* when I haven't been coughing.

My son seemed much better today and even ate his dinner this evening so maybe eating a good meal after a couple of days eating not much at all has given him the tummy ache. I have just checked on him and he seems settled now. If he does seem ill tomorrow I will call the doctor but he has been fine all day.

I agree to with the lack of control - when my daughter even mentions a belly ache I end up driving her crazy and asking her every 15 minutes if she's going to v* because I think the worst part about it all is cleaning it up.....YUCK!

I would def. take your son to the doc if he's not better by tomorrow! My daughter is actually doing well, I think she just has a cold now.You can tell in her eyes that she is not quite herself yet, but I just keep forcing liquids and rest so that recovers soon.

Good Luck! Hope all is well.

Thanks aar13 and falon-17.My son is fine today so that is good. He ate all his breakfast and 2 bananas so he must be feeling better.

I have had no more v* though I am panicing at every cough. I got up with d* this morning and have had to go 4 times so far so not very good really. I am now worrying I have a sv and will pass it on to the rest of my family, but hopefully it is just flu related. A mum at my daughters school said her daughter had d* on Monday and the little girl had been at my daughter's party on Saturday and had been holding my hand Ughh! Hurry up spring and summer.

aar13 I'm glad your daughter is doing much better now. I hope her cold soon gets better.

Help, this is getting worse. After having d* 4 times this morning I felt very tired and empty, so, after lunch I had a sleep at the same time as my son. I woke suddenly and had d* again, then again 4 more times before collecting my daughter at school. At the school I came over really dizzy in a hot sweat just like I was going to v* but of course I didn't. Now it keeps comming over me in waves. I feel terrible and really hope IT does not happen. It was bad enough after coughing the past couple of days but if it was due to a sv that would be so much worse. My family may catch it.I am sure all the worrying does not help. I just hope all the d* and n* are just flu related and not a sv.

I hate to say this, but it could actually be both. With the flu like illness first your immune system is probably down and you could have caught an sv* ontop of it. Usually the d* comes last, so I think that if you were going to v* it would have happened already. I'm so sorry that you are feeling so bad and I hope that you feel better soon!

It looks like it might be a s.v. My sister who helped at my daughters party on Saturday has been ill all afternoon with v*ing and d* so it is not looking good. I still have d* and after each time I feel a little better then the n* returns in waves causing a hot sweat and panic. I am trying to have confidence in you saying that D* usually comes last but last time I had a sv with V*3 years ago, I had d* and n* for 24 hours before the v*. I fight the v*for as long as possible. As I am sitting here I feel a big wave of n* comming over me. I am so scared and even more scared of my family catching it.

    CURLY WURLY:

I hate to say it, but it sounds like what I call the "double-whammy flu", which is both the respiratory part AND the stomach part. That happens alot, unfortunately, it's just a major flu with the "works".

Oh wow, you poor thing! I guess it does sound like a sv* if your sister is sick with it as well. Bummer! So how long have you actually been feeling like this now? I feel so bad and wish it would go away from you! No one else is sick right now and they may not even get it, so just keep yourself calm and keep washing hands, disinfecting, etc and maybe no one else will get it.

My stomach hasn't felt good since Friday night off and on. I thought yesterday was better but today I am at work just feeling off. Once and a while my stomach starts to hurt and I am getting waves of n* as well. I feel like I'm getting a fever too because I'm hot in the face, and normally I'm always cold. UGH!

Keep me posted as I will do the same. You can always PM me if you wanna chat.

well its not going too well. I have not had d* for anhour now but the n* is soo bad. I spent the last hour in the bathroom just in case. I thought it may take my mind of it if I read some posts here but still feeling bad. I tried going to bed but that made things worse. My hubby is home and has been quite sympathetic which is good but I do not want to be near anyone not even my husband. I am shaking so much. I keep trying to convince myself that if I was going to v* it would have happened by now. I am still so scared of making my family ill. Help!
