Okay, so there's this sv going around my school. I wasn't very nervous, until a few of my friends caught it and so did my teacher. I've started being more concious about washing my hands, but now i'm starting to obsess. Thatcan't be healthy...plus I've now started feeling nauseous, yesterday (but it went away) and tonight ( i was fine today). i'm really hoping that it's just anxiety, and it probably is. I do need a little reassurance...however, i also need some tips. How do you guys bring down anxiety when you're faced with the same situation over and over again every day?

    thanks,

    Hey Anya

I know how you feel with the sv around school, its horrible but i'm sure you'll be fine =] I'm positive because I know when the sv was around school, I'd feel n* all the time and panic. Just be careful when handling food that you're going to eat. About bringing down anxiety,...erm lol...i'm not completely sure about that...^^ but you'll be fine!! =]

    hi anya!

keep in mind that your friends that caught the sv probably weren't as conscious as you to keep their hands clean! so you most likely have less of a chance of getting the sv. i wouldn't worry about it too much. my parents had a bad sv friday and saturday, and they sort of still don't feel normal now, and i obsessed over washing my hands constantly, disinfecting everything before i touched it, and spraying lysol all over my entire house. so far though, my obsessing paid off! lol i've felt n* every single day since last friday, but i know it's anxiety and that i'm just doing it to myself. it's hard to shake the anxiety. just know that the n* you're feeling is just in your head. take deep breaths and do whatever you can to keep your mind off of it. get out in the fresh air if you can, that always makes me feel better. or watch a movie or something!! garden state is my favorite movie everrr. if you haven't seen it, you need to! also, napoleon dynamite is hysterical, it will definitely get your mind off of not feeling well!!

Thanks you guys. It seems now that I'm fine every day (knock on wood) but i feel sick every night! It's starting to get on my nerves. I have to babysit for five hours tonight, so I hope that I'm okay! I just really wish I could stop feeling sick. I think it's coming because of the scaredness of the sv plus I'm going on an exchange to Spain in two weeks so i'm excited/nervous about that...I just can't help but think that there could be a medical reason for this. Oh well

I'm just gonna try and relax...aaaargh.

hey Anya, my name is hannah and this is the first time i have been on this site. i feel so reassured to know that people have the same fears as me. i can't understand how people can be so casual about seeing somone that has been sick. i feel petrified if i'm in contact with somone who is ill, and for at least the next 3 days i have panic attacks about catching the sv myself, i don't know what to do with myself- but i do agree that going for a walk and deep breaths help.

Do you know why you have this fear? ihave been thinking about it and i have no reason to have such a phobia of v*.

    Hope you understand xxx

Hey Hannah, welcome to the site!

I know that I had the exact same feelings when I first found the site. I'm not sure why I have this fear...sometimes it seems that it could have been genetic or from birth, because i've had it for such a long time, but it could also be a traumatic event (e.g. me having an esophagus problem when I was a baby so I v*ed a ton, or my dad having a liver disease).

Anyway, I agree about the going for a walk and deep breaths, and i also agree with blondie's statement about distracting yourself. I was feeling kind of sick the other night, but I had to go babysit and I completely forgot about it. It was gone!

Anyway, I hope that this site helps you, there are a lot of great people who come here.
