My boss is away at the moment abroad and he called the office yesterday. I asked him how his holiday was going and he said he was having a good time but everyone in his party had been ill. Well straight away I asked him if it was stomach and he said yes. I found myself worrying and wanting to question him about it all and then I thought - ' I am nowhere near him, he is miles and miles away!', but then I started to worry about when he comes back in the office on Monday!

It is typical of this phobia that no matter how far away some one is when they aresick - you still worry about it!

That's pretty funny -- I recall people (who know about my emet) telling me over the phone: "Don't worry, you can't catch it over the phone". Scary thing is, is that I actually had to double-think that one!!

By the way it sounds like whatyourboss' party mayhave is FP or Norwalk, being that they are all sick...........

I used to do that, when my emet was at its worst... I remember one time back in college, getting ready for school and watching a morning talk show at the same time. One of the people was off sick, and they talked about that it was stomach, etc. and I could NOT get it out of my mind all day, I had to watch the next day just to get more info about it. And I live like 1/2 way across the country from these people and my emet was that bad that I worried about them being sick. This has happened numerous times in the past and I remember them all. These things don't bother me anymore now that I've been in therapy and I'm properly medicated for OCD.

Ha ha, back in high school a friend of mine called me on the phone and we talked for a little while, then she said she felt like v*ing again (again?!?!) - she had a sv, and I hung up on her right away!!! It made sense back then, but now I can see how retarded I was. HAHA. Jeez, forgot all about that until I read the thread.
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead, nurture love within you and and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm for many wounds.

I know what you mean...the stupid obsessive thoughts about it...I have done that to myself before until I rationalized like you did and realized there was NO way that I would get it!!!!

Jo2Jo...You mentioned OCD and it has been mentioned a lot on these boards, is that what we have a form of??? I am pretty sure that I fall into that category a bit at least about the obsessive thinking, not so much the compulsions though. If you don't mind me asking, what types of meds are you taking?? I took paxil cr and it really seemed to help a great deal.
