Well here its 4 am
and my poor guts are just in knots. Stinkin periods. It would be good
to take a pain killer, but I already feel rather nauseas and am kind of
afraid to put anything in my stomach. Man cramps just plain suck.</font></span>

Yeah, got mine at the moment and the last two nights I've felt sick to my stomach. No pain, just horrid nausea, bloatedness etc. Being a woman sucks at times.

Hi You should try taking a pain killer as when I get the bad pains that I cant sit up straight i take them and they give me instant relief.

I guess you may already know this but putting a hot water bottle on your back or tummy can help. I've never had any problems with pain killers on an empty stomach if this helps!

Have you ever considered going on the pill? It often gets prescribed for people who have severe cramping, because it does help (I used to have severe cramps/diarrhea everytime I got my period). Even younger girls who arent sexually active get prescribed it for this reason.

Plus, there is the added bonus of knowing when your period comes every month, and preventing pregnancy

    HI,

IM EXPECTING MY PERIOD IN A FEWS DAYS AND EVERY MONTH IS THE SAME....THE NAUSEA IS HORRIBLE, BUT LOTS OF WATER AND REST IS REALLY HELPFUL.....IF YOU ARE SCARED TO TAKE PILLS ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, TRY AND EAT SOME DRY TOAST OR SOME CRACKERS AND THAT MIGHT NOT UPSET YOUR TUMMY AT ALL.....FEEL BETTER SOON.

I know how you feel about a week before I get my period I'm always totally N* and have D*. Then when I actually GET my period I have horrible Cramps! I just got over my period...thank GOD! Things are finally starting to become normal again. I don't take painkillers for a really silly reason...ever hear of the Tylonal Killer? LoL I know I should stop being paranoid about that but I can't help it...I mean what if it happens again?

(For those of you who DON'T know, back in the late 70's/early 80's there was a man who put cyonide in random Tylonal capsules/pills and he killed like 5 or 6 people that's always really freaked me out when it comes to taking pain pills...I'm weird I know)

    Monica-

As a result of that case, bottles of Tylenol and other pills have plastic seals around the cap, and often have a metallic seal on the inside of the bottle as well. If you buy a bottle and both seals are intact, it would be virtually impossible that it had been tampered with, with the exception of a factory incident. It was deduced that the Tylenol murders occured because someone bought bottles of Tylenol, tampered with the product, and then returned to the store and put it back on the shelf. With the new packaging, it would be easy to tell if this had occured- also, many pharmacies now have surveillance cameras, which would catch someone taking something out of their pocket, bag, etc. and placing it on a shelf.

Since then they have also changed the way they make the caplets (more solid), making them more difficult to introduce a poison to.

ps- happened in 1982 in Chicago

pps- I'm a geek and am fascinated by weird murder cases. It's a bit of a hobby of mine.

if you're going to take pills on an empty stomach, take tylenol rather than aspirin. there's less of a chance of it irritating your stomach. if you have to take aspirin, take it with milk rather than water. i know, it sounds gross when you're crampy and bloated and have no appetite, but it coats and relieves your stomach of some of the acidity inside.

    Crimgoddess,

Really off topic.. But have you been to www.crimelibrary.com ? It has an amazing collection of true crime stories and photgraphs. I think it is sponsored by court tv.. Anyway, just checking.

hehe- Tink, yeah, I occasionally visit there. It's kind of my guilty pleasure, because I know how sensationalistic it is (prolly due to the court tv sponsorship). You know those people who watch soap operas, reality tv, or read trashy novels and don't want others to know about it? To me that is crime library

....yet you still may find me on there at 2am, lol

A painkiller can really be a savior to those suffering from cramps, Galadriel! If you're uncomfortable, don't hesitate to take one. I used to, but now I pop a Panadol at the first sign of discomfort when I have my period, and haven't looked back! I just think 'Why suffer?'. It really saved me on Christmas day. Christmas morning I felt the cramps beginning, and thought to myself "Ohh no you don't. This isn't ruining my day,". Tooka painkiller and was able to forget about it for the rest of the day! ^__^

*hugs* Hope you're feeling better now!

You should take the painkiller. Often times it's pain from the cramps
that causes period related n*, so painkiller will help both. Since it's
early in the morning your stomach is probably empty and you're right
that putting painkiler in your stomach with nothing else in it is a bad
idea. Have a snack, take some painkiller, and maybe take a hot bath or
shower and you should feel a little better.

I used to have cramps so bad I would go pale and feel faint, and bleeding so bad that I couldn't move far from the toilet on day 1. I've been taking Yasmin birth control pills for about a year and they make your period so light and short and almost pain-free. I do get n* too on the first days. I've recently tried Midol because I started getting fatigued with my period and it really helped. I had so much caffeine in me from those pills, I was bouncing off the walls. It a thousand wonders it didn't trigger a major panic attack!

I second that, falon! I used to have HORRIBLE cramps, but since Yasmin, no more cramps!! We could do a commercial for them, huh?
