This morning my daughter had diarreah and now I have it too, really bad . . . (TMI) pure liquid and just pouring out . . . otherwise I feel OK so far . . . do most svs start with diarreah or v*? I'm really scared! I took Pepto. Should I be v***ing by now if I have a sv? They usually come on strong and quick, right? I hope so and that this doesn't get any worse! HELP!

Try not to worry if you feel OK. Usually it's the v* that starts first then the d* as the virus works its way through the system - assuming it's ingested, which is the most common way to contract these bugs. Could you just be stressed cos of your daughter's d* - if you've been anxious then this would make you have d*.

I have had a couple of sv with d* only, but I felt pretty rough nevertheless. If you're feeling OK, then it's probably nothing serious.

Does pepto act as a laxative? Did you take it on an empty stomach?Edited by: suze

Thanks Suze. I don't think it's being scared about my daughter because I wasn't really nervous about her at first. I thought it was because we ate ravioli last night, and she had hers with butter, and I thought it was just that (we very rarely eat anything that rich or fatty). I even took her to the library. But then we got home and(TMI again) I thought I needed to break wind---and UGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

Even now being nervousI don't feel nauseous, YET.

Pepto was not on an empty stomach. I had a big lunch about an hour before.

    I hope this doesn't get worse . . .

Urgh I hate it when that happens!

Its hard to know if its a stomach bug or what, or maybe the ravioli
didn't go over so well with you both. If it is a bug it could just be
    the runs.

The only thing you can really do is wait it out as hard as that is, but
you aren't feeling nauseas which is a good sign. Even if you were lots
of times that goes along with getting the runs. If your daughter hasn't
gotten sick or hasn't felt like v* then it could just be a bug with the
runs. Stay home for the day and just lay low till you know what its
going to do. I hope it works itself out soon. I've had it where its
just been a bout of it then I was okay. Our bodies are weird.

I get D* a lot because I have a weird stomach that likes to reject just about everything that I put in it. If you aren't feeling N* then I wouldn't worry about it. Just take it easy today...eat light food and drink pleanty of liquids. You'll be fine.

Hey Luna. I also think you would have v* first if it was a s/v. Then again not all of us v* when we have s/v's. I would think you v* first then the d*. This is the order in which I have seen s/v's react in people. No need to worry, you'll be fine.

Thank goodness I am much better. I had the diarreah for a few hours, then it went away, and I have been fine ever sicne. I ate only crackers yesterday, but today I ate normal food and am still OK, so I guess it's passed. That's so weird. All I had was a few hours of pretty severe diarreah with no other symptoms at all. Any idea what it was? A bug? Food?

You know what? I had that yesterday at work. For no reason at all, and my stomach wasn't even bothering me. I had a long meeting to go to though and I was paranoid about it, but ended up making it through the meeting ok. I have no idea what it was, since I ate the same thing I eat every day, and hadn't gone out and done anything different the night before. Weird, huh?

Glad you're ok now luna! I had that a few years ago - extreme d* for like, an hour, then itgradually got less and less, and I was perfectly ok! I think you're right about the ravioli - it was probably a bit too rich for you and your daughter, and as a result, you both got a touch of the runs!
