So, my mother had some kind of bacterial-viral-stomach-kinda-thing a few days ago. She v* 3 times and had diarrhea multiple times through out the 36-48 hours. I don't live at home with my parents, but had gone over after work to pick up some things and stay the night. When I found out she was sick, it took a lot of convincing for me to stay, but my father assured me she hadn't been in the spare bedroom at all, and she'd hardly journeyed downstairs. So, aside from only touching the TV remote control with a tissue, I didn't take any precautions. But I wasn't in contact with my mother at all until the next day when she felt better and told me she thought it was just something she ate.

She said that it started by having to do diarrhea really bad while shopping, and she did and then left for fear of having to do it again. And then, shortly after, she said her stomach felt weird and she was just very sick for a couple hours straight.

Well, I felt pretty confident that I was going to befine (I left Friday afternoon - she was s* Thursday/night), but just about an hour ago my stomach started getting all rumbley and it wasn't hungry. I can't say it hurts, but I'm so petrified! I'm going to lose my mind if I get diarrhea, because that's how it started for her!

Please help! Is it likely that I got it from her, even though we had VERY VERY limited contact? I'm terrified that I got it from her, or someone else and that I won't be able to avoid v*ing!!!!

Gah! I hate this, because IF this blows over, I'll feel all embarrassed about blowing this out of proportion!!!

don't be embarassed!!! maybe you're stomach just feels weird because you're worrying about it. if you get your mind off it then maybe you'll feel better. believe me, i know how you feel, i live at home with my parents and my mom had a sv on friday and i've been in a panic ever since. your nerves can really do terrible things to you. i've barely even slept in fear of waking up and having to v*! maybe relax and watch a movie or something if you can. take deep breaths and drink some tea. chances are, it's probably just your nerves that are making your stomach feel rumbly. it happens to me all the time. right now i feel a little bit n* and tired and achey, but i really think i'm just doing that to myself. good luck and feel better! keep us updated!

Don't be embarrassed, I panic if my mouth waters, or I wake up and am not hungry, even if I don't feel sick!! That's just the nature of this emet beast!!! DId your dad get sick? I wouldn't worry if he didn't, you didn't come in contact with her!!

I think you need really direct contact, like saliva/touching out bodily
fluids to get a sv. I think since you werent any where near her that
your fine. I would say you feel sick from nevers...likes us emets

It sounds to me like your just feeling anxiety...calm down as best you can, I know it is hard, but you have to ingest the virus in order to contract it, and if your Mom stayed upstairs, and chances are she washes her hands, then you have a very slim chance of getting it. Please try not to worry I am sure you will be fine.

Yeah true, I agree with everyone else. In order to get a stomach virus you would probably have to come in contact with saliva or other bodily fluids ..
