Well so far my hubby, my daughter and me havn't got my son's sv which was 6 days ago...and neither has anyone in my family....but I hear you.....it seems to be way more common than a cold nowadays!!!

Haha- what do I live in a bubble or something? So far the only person who I know has vomitted due to illness (or something else) was me! The only thing I hear about are colds and the flu. And I come in contact with a lot of people- with school (all grad students in my department share one lounge/computer room), my TA class, and assorted friends.

LOL- want a bubble? Move to Ottawa, Canada! I think it gets too cold and windy here for even the viruses to survive

Where is the good ole' fashioned head cold? Does anyone get those anymore? I remember always getting them when I was kid and so did everyone else. Now its just SV, SV, SV. That's anyone gets, except for the occasional strep throat.

Crimgoddess - I am going to see the Niagra Falls the first weekend in February. I have no idea where that is though! The furthest north I have been is New JerseyEdited by: madisonsmom
hehehehe- Well- I live in the Capital of Canada- which, incidentally, is the second coldest capital city in the world.
Here are two maps....one shows Niagara Falls- the other one is more detailed. We're about 5 or 6 hoursnorth-east of Niagara. We're on the Quebec border- and about an hour and a half from Montreal. Anyone is welcome to visit anytime!
madisonmon- enjoy the niagara regionAre you going to be staying on the US side, or venturing north of the border as well? If you can, see if you can do a wine tour, or visit one of the vineyards (if they are open to the public this time of year)- some of Canada's best wines come from that area. Well, not that you can drink any now.....but, you know, in about 7 months I'm sure having a few bottles of good wine will come in handy

Yes, it does seem like everyone has it. There have been more thana few times over the past couple of weeks where between 2-3 people per day would tell me they or someone they knew just had it!! I live in Upstate NY and sv's seem to run rampant here in the winter from November - March. Man, that's a long season!!
I think this site also makes us even more aware that it is out there, while helping us deal with our fears at the same time.
I\'m always a shade of purple...

well i had it and vomited 4 times but really bad it was awful and i havent been around anyone sick
I think its because we are worried about it that it seems to be around more. Its something you look for subconsciously and it always seems there is forever a tummy bug going round. People have colds etc all the time but you dont pick up on those because you are not worried about them.
I hope I am making sense!
I do try and think positive now and tell myself that if someone is sick it doesnt mean they have a stomach bug.
This was awful for me the other day, we picked up a friend to go out to a football match for the day and it was just after Christmas so we were talking about Christmas and what we had for xmas dinner etc etc (his mum is vegetarian, so I was wondering what they had for their xmas dinner). Anyway he said they had turkey and that it was very nice. Then he went on to say that he will never let his mum cook lamb for him again, and i asked why and he said cos it made me really ill last night! Well ALARM Bells went off inside me, I instantly started panicking inside (trying to keep myself together because we had a car full of people!. I instantly panicked because I was stuck trappedin a small car with him (with no windows open because it was freezing and everyone would have thought I had gone made for wanting the window open) and now my husband, my son and myself would all now catch his bug. I started analysing everything he said and when we went to the cafe and he ate beans on toast, I kept telling myself he couldnt have had a bug otherwise he wouldnt be eating now etc etc!
It totally ruined my day!
Well I suffered for the next two days worrying about it! Nobody caught anything in my family. All that worrying for nothing and constant analysing of the situation was for nothing.
I do try and tell myself this everytime some one near me tells me they have been ill and try and stay positive! Its hard tho!
