Hi all. Im a newbie to this site, but I've been reading lots of stuff on here and it is comforting to know there are people out there that I can relate to in regards to emet.

I've been emet since I was 7. I'll be 27 in February and havn't v* since I was 10. I also never ever ever burp. My friends and family think that this is impossible, but they've witnessed me drink a pop, chug a beer without any belching. I do suffer from extreme bloating at times that I assume is from the built up pressure. Im a thin girl, and sometimes the bloating gets so bad I look like Im in my third trimester of pregnancy! I work as an x-ray tech and I even took four packets of CO2 gas crystals that we use for upper GI studies to put air in the digestive tract, which willcause burping in all my patients...and I did not burp!! My co-workers made me do this as an "initiation" when I was a student. (hehehe!!) The doctors I've brought this up to never say much about this.

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have this abscence of burping? The only other person I know that has this is my sis, who is not emet. I was wondering if this is possibly a factor in not v* for such a long time?

Well, sorry this is so long, but thanks for listening and any input! Im glad I found this site!

Oh yeah, a fun fact I learned today......

Horses do not v*!!!! Lucky, lucky creatures!!!

Hey I have the exact, exact same thing, I was actaully going to post a topic on it but I guess I don't have to. There are times whn Ill really want to burp because my stomach hurts and is bloating and I know its just gas, yet I can't! about couple times a year a few small ones will slip by in a hiccup but they're barely burps at that. Weird I think it is emet related because emets ahve a tendency to control getting sick also so I think for us that dont get sick often, me, our minds dont really know the difference in feeling and just automatically swallow it down.

I have the same thing also, I have never been able to
burp and it does tend to make me bloated. Sometimes I
can feel like a burp needs to come out and I try to let
it, but it just stays in my throat and makes a weird
noise. I wish I could burp sometime, I think it would
make me feel better sometime if I c

My sister is a bit of an emet and she can't burp either. I can though, and the rest of my family definitely can, hehe!

I burp all the time. It makes me feel better after I drink a soda or something. What I hate is those "Hot" burps that I get some times, those suck, they make me feel like I might actually V* or something.

I don't know how to burp either. I have a little hiccup thing
sometimes, but that's not a real burp. I've wondered recently
whether this was related to my emet - from everone's responses, it
    sounds like it is.

I find that I burp when I'm anxious. Its almost my way of saying o i burped I'm ok its nothing serious.

weird. but it relieves for me something in my stomach so when nervous i burp on purpose or i burp without warning. i could be walking arounda store a lil anxious and burp!!!

there always seem to be alot of posts about this topic.

I always say that I get the "frog croaks" where the gas sounds exactly like this in my throat. Its really funny, but annoying when your in class and trying to hear a lecture. lol.

I never burp audibly. Occasionally little bubbles of gas will come up, but that's all that ever happens.

It's weird, though. I would suspect that this has some relation to emetophobia, but I never burped even before I had this phobia. I'm inclined to think that this means I've always had some "fear" of anything coming up "the wrong way."

I am totally the same, I can't burp at all. I've had situations
where I feel so so ill and N* from gas and it just can't come out
and I feel awful. I wonder if it's because we are more alert to
things coming up so we subconciously tighten our throats or
something. It really isn't great, in fact I have the frog croaks now
    and feel really bloated
