I have this little lap desk that I use with my laptop to keep it cool,
and today I left it on the arm of the sofa while I was at class. Well
when I got home I found that my mom had put the balled up socks she was
wearing earlier on top of it.

Now I'm not one of those people who is freaked out by feet, but that is
so disgusting! I mean someone's sweaty used socks were on my desk. I
use that thing for atleast 3 hours out of everyday, my hands are always
on it, sometimes I even use it for food when I'm having a snack and
there were SOMEONE ELSE'S DIRTY SOCKS on it!!!!!!

I bitched at her about it immediately when I noticed and then then she
spent the rest of the afternoon grumbling when she saw me cleaning it
off with 409. Is that really just me? I mean if someone found used
socks on their desk at work wouldn't they be grossed out?

Gah, your family tries to be understanding of your phobia, but it's
times like these when it becomes inescapably clear that they just don't
    get it!

I really think your mom just didn't think about what she was doing and that she would upset you. I mean, I'm an emet and I often kick my socks off (my feet are always so hot!) and leave them on the furniture until I clear them away later. The only exceptions would beI wouldn't put them on work surfaces where food was prepared. If they were really sweaty or dirty however I would put them on the floor or straight in the dirty laundry basket.

I think now your mom knows how much it upset you she won't do it again and it will probably make her think before she does anything similar.
