Not sure how many of you are married - I just got hitched myself in November. The thng is, (like most of you I'm sure), I freak out every time my wife gets sick. My phobia has gotten worse over time and I'm not really only afraid of V, but germs in general these days.

She has a cold right now, which isnt as bad as an SV obviously, but it still freaks me out..and its like I dont even want to be in the same room as her while shes sick! I dont know what I will do if and when she gets an SV..probably get a hotel room or something!!!!

Any suggestions on how to deal with such stuff?

My husband had the SV 2 weeks ago, I made him sleep on the couch, took the kids out of the house 1st thing in the morning, and sprayed everything he could have possibly touched with disinfectant!!! Then I count the days worrying if we're all going to get it. I do not freak out about anything but v'ing--he just annoys me when he has colds etc., because he's such a big baby!!

I also freak out but figure that if my Partner has a Stomach Virus than I will have probably already come into contact with it and avoiding her won't help. I usually leave the room beside the room she is sick inand stock up on Vitamins and disinfectant. I figure if I'm going to get it, I'll have already gotten the bug during her contagious stage before she was even sick.I feel your pain though and luckily my partner doesn't want me anywhere near her when she is sick, so ya.

It is hard, I am only afraid when my husband has the sv* other than that with colds, whatever, I am very supportive and nurturing. I don't want to get them, but I try to try him the same way that I would want to be treated. I still feel guilty for the time that he did have the sv* and I slept out on the couch instead of in the bed with him. I disinfected the entire house and way scared for days that I would get it. I think that sometimes if you focus on treating them in a compassionate way like you would want to be treated if you have the sv* it makes it easier to put yourself aside and be supportive. It is soooo hard though, don't get me wrong. I love my husband though and the last thing that I want him to feel like is a contagious germ.

I get pretty scared when my bf has a sv, but mostly feel sorry for him and want to take care of him! Amazing, huh? I'm that way with my son also, but that's it. No one else. There have been times when I've offered my Phenergan to my bf or tried to nurse him back to health...I'll analyze every detail of his illness to figure out what he has (you know how we emets do that) but I actually don't mind his company when he's sick. It amazes my mom! She knows how scared I can get! My bf is aware of my emet too, so he tries to be careful. He seems pretty sturdy though lol, I don't think he's v* once since we got together.
Proud to be a FIREFIGHTER\'S GIRLFRIEND!!
