Is it possible to get so scared that you actually V* from terror? I was wondering this after seeing the movie Hostel. I've never been so scared that I've actually V*ed but it seems like it could happen...is there any truth to this?

I dont think that it is possible to actually be that scared of a film that you will v*

If it was something that is related to your life as in seeing someone close to you dead or something horrible that your stomach couldnt take it then maybe but not from a film.

I hope you are alright hun?x

It's possible I think. Much more so for non-emets though.

I'm sure you know from panic attacks that it's possible to gag from
fear, and if you're a normal person that could be all it takes to make
    you v*.

I don't think you have to worry about it ever happening to you though.
I suspect you'll live your entire life without ever v*ing from terror.

I heard somewhere that the fight or flight response actually prevents you from vomiting in most cases...for our ancestors, vomiting would have been a bad response when being chased by a wooly mammoth! So if it is true terror with adrenaline, i think the chances of vomiting are quite unlikely, but if it is something that is more grief driven, like seeing a dead body or something...something that you are personally attached to in some way.

Also, if you are not normally a sensitive person when it comes to scary movies it prolly won't bother you.

It is possible! A friend of my brothers worked a theater when the original Anaconda was out, and a couple times a week he had to clean up v' from someone getting sick in the theater during the movie.

That could have easily been caused my other things though, including eating too much or laughing so hard they started to gag. V* in a movie theater is just as common as anywhere else.

I have never heard someone V* out of terror, however I could see how it is possible considering when your body goes into fight or flight - it will do whatever it takes to "lighten the load" and get out of the situation (V*, D*, urinating, etc... can all occur and the nausea is caused because the blood that usually goes to the stomach is sent to other areas of the body to be utilized in an emergency and nausea can also be caused because digestion stops during fight and flight, which often makes people sick).

    Violet-

I'm alright...I don't think it's possible for me to see anything so scary thatI vomit actually. The movie Hostel was pretty nasty and it made my stomach turn quite a few times but I didn't vomit. I just saw in the movie the one part *SPOILER ALERT* Where this guy was coming at the other guy (Paxton I think his name wasy) And he started to vomit. I thinking that reaction was out of terror...but I mean it could have been for any number of reasons I guess. That's where the question stemmed from.

Anaconda did suck. My sister's friend threw up when she saw The Ring...the part where they show the body in the closet...aparently it grossed her out so much that she puked.

I actually know people who vomit when they are startled, or are really scared of something. Once I was watching Friday the 13th at a friends house, and her dad tapped on the window wearing a hockey mask and carrying a flashlight (it was 1am- pretty good gag I must admit). Her first response was to run to the bathroom and vomit (which I was really happy with, haha). I also know someone that if you jump out and scare them, the first thing that happens is they vomit. Weird, eh?

Hmmm....am going to see Hostel this week. Can't wait! I love slasher flics- hopefully the vomit scenes won't bother me.

I seen Hostel last weekend. My hubby said he nearly *v* from all of the graphic scenes, but he has somewhat of a weak stomach anyway...

See like I said before vomiting scenes in movies don't really bother me, but the ones in Hostel weren't so bad because the vomit wasn't chunky it was just sort of watery...LoL too much detail?

Anyway, Amber, that's weird that someone would puke when they get startled. Although I do remember this one time when I was already feeling Nauseous and someone startled me, I almost blew chunks but seeing as how I'm an emetophobe it didn't happen. But I was already nauseous so does that count?
