I feel like all I ever do on here is gripe lately.. but here I am again.

This New Years started off normal enough... we all stay home b/c we don't like to be out. So anyways, we decided that this year we were going to let Anthony try to stay up. We could tell that everyone was tired though (the dogs and Anthony). So Mongo (the mix), goes into a bedroom and lays down on a bed. Meanwhile, anthony is jumping on Riley (the boxer). So we put him on "the naughty step" for a few minutes, told him why, and told him to leave the dogs alone when it was time to get up.

No sooner does he get up, does he sprint into the bedroom where Mongo is sleeping... Mike and I are running behind him, and he just POUNCES on the dog. The dog yelps.. and Anthony got nipped. I would like to emphasize nipped b/c Mongo is an 80 lbs. dog.. and if he had bitten, anthony wouldn't have a face... so he has 3 small cuts on his face... and a big cut on his lip! Blood was everywhere.. we lock Mongo in a room, grab a blanket to put anthony in, grab ice from the freezer.. and run out... (I'm wearing a sweatshirt, and pj pants w/ socks). By this time, it is 10:30... so we fill out a dog bite report, talk to the doctors about what happened, talk about quarantine and so forth. They're sticking anthony w/ needles and giving him antibiotics... and they tell us that he neds stitches, but they want a plastic surgeon to do them. So at 11:00 pm, they tell us that they will have an ambulance ready by 12am. But it was more like 1:00am. Meanwhile, I've been on the verge of a PA all night, and I ask them for some type of dramamine (b/c I get sick if I don't face forwards).. and they couldn't give it to me unless I was admitted as a patient. WTF...

So we finally get to Children's Hospital in Boston. They look at Anthony and we wait around until like 2"15.THen they put a numbing agent on his lip so thathe won't feel the "litocaine" as much.. and we need to wait about a half hour. Well the time runs out, and then he can't find the specialist. So they find the specialist, and stick anthony in a pampoose (he can't move)... so they're injecting him, he is flipping out, he begins to have a panic attack... and it took over a half hour... it was terrible.. I couldn't st op crying. So we are finally ready to leave at 5am... and everyone is just exhausted.. (and boy was up the entire time). (he was saying happy new years to everybody and looking for fire extinguishers). The people there were great though.. best hospital I've ever been in... people were great... but all I could do was purell the whole time.. holding anthony.

So we get home.. and everyone goes to bed... The day after, my uncle and aunt are in a restaurant w/ some othe rrelatives, and suddenly my uncle can't breathe, turns grey/blue, and passes out) so they're in the hospital running all these tests. Turns out that he is just dehydrated and over-stressed.

So then the last two days, Anthony, Mike and myself ALL GET S*.. like v* and d* sick... DESPITE ALL MY EFFORTS.. I've caught this. Anthony keeps poopin his pants.. and Mike and I are running for the bathroom... he was ving and haveing d* for like 2 days.. but I v*ed once.. but had d* two days... it was terrible.. no matter how hard I tried to fight it.. it just came up and I couldn't stop it... I thought I was gonna pass out on the toilet.. but thank god it was only 1 time..

So we're all just laying low today... for whatever reason I wasn't able to get on thise sitebefore today... wierd enough..

but I hope that the new year has everything out of it's system.. and that the rest of it will be looking up... I hope that everyone else's New year started on a better foot!

I was hoping I'd die fr part of mine... but I didn't and all is well,...NOW..

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get better, and your family too. How do you deal with your child when you have v* or d*? I was just wondering because I have a 2 year old and most of my emet is being terrified of not being able to take care of him when I have a sv. It's like I'm crippled with fear, and I can't do anything but sleep on the bathroom floor.

What an awful night!!! Is your son ok? Did he end up having to have anything major done to him? Are you going to be able to keep your dog? That is so sad when that happens. Good job for being brave during your sickness...

I'm so sorry That all sounds terrible. i know this is going to sound really odd, but when you actually v*d was it as bad as you expected? 'Cos I remember getting ill once and thinking: "Wow, that wasn't so bad, maybe I'm cured" before going back to total fear a few days later lol.

Well done for coping so well though! Sounds like you deal with your child as quick as possible which is exactly what is needed in a situation like than, so good on you. I'm just so sorry that your year started out that way.

    Okay... so

We got the dog evaluated and we can keep him if we choose. we are going to keep him b/c we've had him almost as long as anthony's been alive... and they were best of buds.. and sometimes you forget that you're trusting a 4 year old and a dog. But we saw what happened, and Mongo has NEVER BITTEN.. and anthony has done some harsh things to him when he was younger.. but you can tell the dog feels bad.. (as dumb as that sounds).. he still avoids him when possible.. I mean he will sit next to him.. but when anthony goes to give him a kiss... he backs away.

Anthony needed to get stiches.. and was getting P-attacks a few times afterwards.. but those seem to have passed.. and he did great getting the stiches out.

Yes, v*ing was as bad as I remembered it.. and unfortuantely it wasn't that long ago... but I lived... and am still very finicky about disinfecting almost dailey...

I figure the year can only get better from here...

thanks for your words, though... they're appreciated

I remember those good old days on Saturday Night Live! Will Farrell and Chris Katan regularly did that "dance" thing, but the one with Jim Carrey as a guest was really funny too. I miss those old skits on SNL. I liked the Cheerleaders too!

Tayda,I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but I'd say you have a great attitude about it now. Things can only go up from here! agree with your decision abou the dog too. I don't think it was really the dog's fault, it was just an accident. That's why they say to let sleeping dogs lie. Ans it is obvious that he feels horrible about it. I have two Labs, both about 80 pounds and a baby on the way. I am a little worried about the dogs, but I think we will just have to keep a close watch on them and train them to be careful. I love my dogs and know they would never hurt anyone on purpose.

Oh gosh, Tayda, sorry to hear about your sh*tty New Years. You did sound super non-chalant about the whole getting sick and v'ing thing tho, if that's any consolation!

    Hope everyone's doing better.

Tayda, so sorry to hear about your son. Hope he is doing good. I'm sorry to hear your family caught a bug too! I'm dreading the day when my son, me and his father have it at the same time. I can't imagine. How did you feel when you were sick? Did your stomach bother you or were you just nauseous?Do you think you picked it up at the hospital?Well, you got through it. How long was your v* streak if you don't mind me asking?

    Take care:O)
