Hi everyone

Hope all are well and coping okay with the sv season. Just a quick question as I am nearing the end of my teen years Im hoping that I will have less sv's. I have had so many as a child and teen does it get better the older you get? I heard some of you haven't v*ed for so long is it cos you are older?

Yes. The digestive system, when immature, is more prone to viruses becoming nasty. Children definitely vomit more than adults. Adults who are afraid, or who do not like to vomit (hate it, I guess) rarely if ever vomit, even from a gastro-intestinal virus.

Actually, you ARE old! If you're on this site, and 13 at least, anyway. Teenagers have mature gastro-intestinal systems. It's just that childhood isn't that far behind you, and you have a body memory of being afraid, and feeling sick, etc. Normal digestive rumblings, quirks, pains, etc. are often mistaken by emetopobes as some sort of illness. THEN when you start to panic, the sympathetic nervous system kicks in, and this STOPS digestion while you're panicking. This leads to gas, nausea, etc....and round and round she goes. Once you can learn how to get calm, and/or stay calmer, and accept stomach feelings as normal, you'll realize that you're not actually sick and don't need to fear it.

    I know, I know...eaiser said than done!

I would really say it all depends on the person. I am not prone to SV's, but I catch EVERY SINGLE upper respiratory infection that has ever been mutated I caught the SV in college last winter and it was not fun, but I didn't V*. I was just miserable for 5 days and wish I could have just gotten the infection out of my body faster. I even had to see a doc I was so miserable and I hate going to doctors!

Seriously... I'm sick all the time with a cough, runny nose, and lung infection it seems. I have uncontrollable allergies, which leads to infections. I get scared that my chronic lung and nasal stuff will eventually cause stomach problems.

My current job situation exposes me to everything alive and dead and full of germs. I teach. Kids are everywhere and they carry lots and lots of things to me, so I just wash my hands and avoid my mouth as much as possible. I know I am now at a greater risk for viruses than I ever was in college because I'm around more people now than at any other time in my life.
I\'m always a shade of purple...
