I ate some mac and cheese (the kraft in the box kind) at lunch, and after I was done, I looked on the box and it said "best used by Jul 04!!!" I looked up "best by" dates on the FDA web site and it said that is an indication of when food is at peak taste quality and it is not an indication of food safety.

That made me feel a little better as I'm sure old pasta and that gross powdery stuff they call cheese can't rot, but I am still really nervous since I am at work til 5. Do you think I will be ok?

You'll be fine. The FDA knows what it's talking about lol. Seriously tho remember the days when stuff like that didn't have "best by" dates? We used to keep those type of things for YEARS and still eat it. You will be fine. If it tasted OK than the flavor probably wasn't even affected.

Whew, thanks a lot. It tasted a little stale but I guess that is to be expected since it is a few years old. Disgusting! Just another reason not to eat crap food!

Usually when pasta "goes bad" it gets bugs in it. It there were no bugs and it tasted okay, I'd say you'll be just fine

You will be fine. Pasta wouldnt make you sick. The cheese is powered so it wont make you sick either.

You'll be okay. I once bought a granola bar from this crap convenience
store near my school. It tasted stale so after eating it I checked the
expiration date and it expired a year earlier. I freaked out but I
didn't get sick. It was probably because it was all dry stuff like oats
and wheat, plus honey which has been known to still be edible after
hundreds of years.

I'm sure you'll be fine in this case for the same reason because pasta
is dry so it'll be okay and the powdered cheese will last because it's
dry and packed with preservatives.
