Ugh, here we go again.

So last night was my family christmas party (ya know the people ya only see like, 3 times a year) Well, we were passing out goodies having a grand old time and I overheard my one cousin say that her daughter threw up before she sat on santas lap ( MY DAD WAS SANTA! ) Now, I wasn't sure if she meant that night or when she went to see a mall santa or something. So as I was obsessing about this, I noticed my other cousin had left the room with her daughter. I heard someone say that my mom was getting something for my cousins daughter. Well, long story short: I gathered that my cousins daughter threw up but must have had d* in her pants too because that is what my mom had to get... a clean pair of pants for the girl. So here's the deal... I was not REAL careful about washing my hands but I was reallyno where near my little cousin except when she handed me a gift. SOOOOO... of course I am now freaking out that I might get the bug. What's that incubation period again? I hate this.

have you ever escaped getting a bug before, or you the kind of person that gets everything that goes around? its unlikely you'll get it, just be careful to keep clean. anyway, if you've got it, you've got it so not alot you can do. remember, this girl could have just been overexcied, eaten something funny, or licked a dog, kids do funny things... don't worry, its not worth it (easier said than done). hope you're fine,

That's pretty extreme. Was that the conclusion that the emetophobia
drew or was that actually what happened after questioning your mom and
dad?

Hi beadgirl! Sounds pretty close to the experience I had with my xmas party last weekend. My mom told me 3 days after the party that my cousin (who is 14 and I shared a pencil with during a game) had gotten sick on Sunday morning (530am which was less than 24 hours after we were together) and she was V* and had d*. Of course I started freaking out thinking that I'm going to get it too. From what I have read, the incubation period is usually 24-48 hours and 3 days at the most, but I could be wrong. Believe me, even though I'm in the clearing from getting it from her, I'm still freaking out about my daughter getting it again (had it 3 weeks ago) and bringing it home from school!

I totally sympathy with you and know that I can't say much to make you feel better. But I really hope you don't get it!

Ugh ugh guh beadgirl, I so hate it when that happens. I know we're
probably around this germs all the time and don't even know it, but still,
when you end up being aware of it it's just torture.

That is what aggravates me...if you KNOW your child is sick...PLEASE do not take them anywhere so they can get others sick or Heaven forbid they v* at someone elses house!

You probably wont catch anything...I remember when I was a teenager, my aunt and uncle used to have THanksgiving dinner almost every year...well, this is no lie.. at least one of my cousins ALWAYS had a stomach bug on that day every year.. and I never caught anything.

I know my emet was bad then...but I could NEVER imagine doing that now! (eating at someones house where people are sick with v*)

Thanks guys... I don't want to say I am out of the clear because That would just jinx me, but (knock on wood) I dont get sick often. Liriodendron- I know she was sick because I overheard her mom saying that she threw up and when they left (shortly after the episode) everyone was saying that they hoped she 'felt better'. They were also trying to tell my cousin which way to go home in case they had to stop for her. I don't even want to go see my mom tomorrow because I feel like there are germs crawling all over that house. I hope no one at my house gets sick. Jen- 'licked a dog" that is classic... My dog is pretty dirty! Dumb sv. You ruin all my fun!

When I was a freshman in college, I went home to visit my parents and
they were having over some of their friends from out of state and they
had a daughter that was about my age. And I remember she felt sick
while she was there and sent into one of the rooms to lay down and
sleep. No V* or anything. And that was before I new that stomach flus
existed so it didn't worry me at that time. They cut their stay short
because of it which was nice. Didn't catch her coodies.

On another occasion I was a senior in high school and had a friend come
in from a distant city to sleep over. He felt sick and v* in my toilet.
Even though I was a major e-phobe at that time, I didn't know that
there were such things as SF's so I flipped out a little but didn't
worry about catching it. And didn't. And that was even after sleeping
in the same room and sharing the same toilet.

Maybe you will find my stories inspiring and might worry less.

You know, my son has had a few SV's and he V*s easily and maybe it is the EMET thing, but I keep him in for several days. I don't want him to give it to others or for him to feel bad while out or for him to catch something else if his immune system is not 100% from being sick. I have no clue why people take kids out who are sick!!!

I agree 100%. Don't let your sick kids outta the house or even yourself if your sick. This is what upset me last year when my son caught that awful rotovirus at daycare. The kid that 'started' it was left in school all day and was v* and had d* all day there. When I went to pick my son up that evening one of the employees told me, " You might want to keep an eye on Christopher, we have a couple of sick kids with a stomach bug." I was furious. I knew something was up even before she told me that because the placed reeked of v* and poop. I immediatley washed Christophers hands, took off all his clothes and sprayed Lysol all around the car and the house. Needless to say he woke up with it the next morning:O(

Even about 2 weeks ago, I went into the local drugstore and when I went up to the cashier to pay the kid behind the counter tells me, " I don't feel good at all." I asked him, "Whats wrong?" He said, " I threw up 2 times since Ive been here." My phobia kicked in high gear and I even let him keep the $.80 in change he owed me. I immediately sanitized my hands in the car and told my b/f to take the bags in the house and to wash his hands after he handled them. I was so pissed that this kid did not go home when he became sick. I told my boyfriend, " If I get sick in the next three-four days I' m going to go back there and crucify that kid." Needless to say I did not get sick (TG)

I'm sorry you went through that. My family is the same way. I have a compromised immune system, yet they feel they must bring their sick kids to holidays because "it's the holidays, they don't want to miss it" it irks me to no end.

Thanks for all the replies... I don't think that she was sick when they got there... You know how the bug hits so suddenly. I think that's what freaked me out because I KNEW it was a bug. Well the party was friday night and now it is monday morning so I am pretty sure I am out of the woods! THank you, GOD!
