So a few people on my floor have come down with the SV. These are not people I work with, so I was OK, especially because I did not find out about it until after the fact. Well, I find out today that someone V* in our restrooms (and LEFT THE MESS THERE). First of all, that is disgusting. Second, I am freaking out!!! I keep thinking about how careless I was with hand washing, etc. today. Granted, I did not use the bathroom today and wasn't really around a lot of people, but I keep hearing how contagious it is!

On a side note, someone else used the restroom and did not flush. If these are the hygine habits of people at work, then I have a TON to worry about this flu season.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Keep your hands washed, after touching ANYTHING in the office!! UUgghhh, I used to hate it when this would happen at work--I ended up quitting jobs, until I finally just started working at home! I think you'll be fine if you just keep your hands clean. You may wanna have some lotion closeby as well, as your hands will probably get pretty dry.

Well, I am freaked out that I may have already caught it. I know that no one I work with closely was the culprit and thank goodness I did not use that restroom today, as I am sure there are germs everywhere. I am usually pretty careful, but now I keep thinking of all of the things I touched around the office today!

    That's frightening indeed.

Yes, generally speaking, those are the hygiene habits of the American
public. Next time you wonder why there's so much of it.....

If the bathroom looks like the inside of the New Orleans superdome, just go in the hallway. I don't think anyone will mind.

I hear you on this one. Everyone in my office has children and all of them have been sick with the stomach bug over the past two weeks. I know that washing your hands is the best way to protect yourself against it. Try to think positively, it sounds like you are very health conscious so I am sure that you will be fine.

The way other people are drives me nutts too. If I v* in the restroom I would clean it up!! That seems like common sense doesn't it!!

I know!!! It's just good manners to clean up after yourself- especially when you are in public. Apparently, word at the office is that there are several people at the office who do not wash their hands when they use the toilet. That is so gross. They are ADULTS. They really should understand.

Everyone at work with kids seems to have caught a bug. I wonder if it just hits schools and daycares FIERCE.

I am hopeful that I will be OK. I use hand sanitizer religiously and try and wash my hands several times a day.

On a side note...why does it seem like when people get an SV it always happens in the middle of the night. It makes me scared to go to bed sometimes!

Ewww.. That is sooo gross! People are idiots that leave a mess in a public bathroom! Do they leave their bathrooms at home like this??

Yeah.. just keep your hands washed and use sanitizing wipes. Thats what Ive been doing.

Oh and I know what you mean about people getting sick in the middle of the night!
Ive always wondered whats up with that???

I'm sorry this is happening at your work...I'd definitely be on high alert. Try and console yourself as best you can in the fact that sv's have probably "gone around" before and you didn't get it. The lady who got sick and left it,well that's just gross and there's absolutely no excuse for that! Guess she figured the janitor wouldn't mind cleaning that up???? I just think that's thoughtless. I workedat a place a few years ago that one of the lady's had some kind of intestinal problem and she wouldn't ensure she flushed. One of the otherladies posted signs in the bathroom. We are all over the age offive -how sad to have to post asign to remind people to flush. Hang inthere, you will probably notcatch it. Might be a good idea tobring in a can of Lysol andspray your desk area, phone, keyboard and of course the bathroom door handles.

I always keep Chlorox Beach wipes in a desk drawer and wipe down my doorknob, phone, etc. a few times a week. You can never be too careful! The thing that is bad is that now I definitely don't want to use the restroom at work (lingering germs and all that), so I go at lunch and then wait until I go home! I also think it is horrible that the sick person left the mess for the custodians to clean up - I mean, their job is to clean but not clean up after us! How disrespectful - she could have at least notified building services and requested cleaning supplies and cleaned up a bit after herself!

I HATE flu season!!! I just don't worry about it as much in the summer!

I get totally freaked out thinking about getting sick at night. I guess it's better than getting sick in public, or when you're driving. That is another one of my fears, having to v* while in the car.

I doubt you will catch it hippy...you are way too careful, much more so than the majority of your (inconsiderate) co-workers.

Are sv's only transmitable through contact? They aren't airborne, right? This is something i've always wondered about.

I'm really sorry you have to work in this enviroment. I would die. It's good thatyou have the Clorox wipes with you, also I would carry around Purel. Come to think of it, I need to get to the store and buy some.
