My sister was quite quiet this evening and I was wondering why. When dinner was ready, I wasn't all that hungry, because I was feeling a bit sick. I left quite a lot of it in the end. I was also surprised to see my sister left almost all of it, when normally she eats well. Of course that started me thinking/worrying slightly, whether she could maybe be ill.

Anyway, after that I still felt quite sick, but I busied myself in homework (of which I have a ton). Then she got into an argument with my dad, he shouted at her and she started crying. She said that she felt like she was coming down with something- probably the flu.

I stupidly thought about how I had a cold a week or so back, and how it had only just gone, but last night I started to get a sore throat again. This got worse today. I then thought about how sick I was feeling and how I'd gone from recently eating everything to feeling like I didn't want to eat anything.

So now I'm worrying we might have the same thing. I have bad memories of when this bug went around my area a few years back and me and my sister both got il at the same time (I mean we were both sick sick) which was terrible. I think this is going to happen again, and I'm really not sure what to do. I know a lot of people recently who have been getting fluey type things and being sick from them.

I would try not to worry too much about this. We can all have off
days where we don't feel completely right. As you are from the UK, if
we say "the flu" we generally mean proper flu - as in high temp, sore
throat, shivers, aches etc - not stomach flu. You do also go off your
food for this sort of thing. You are probably feeling sick because of
stress and anxiety, and now worry because of your sisters ailments.
Try to channel your energy into something different. Put music on
and read a good book. Hard to do but try not to think about it too
much because it will only make you worse!!! Hope everything is
    okay.

    Thanks!

Sadly I really do have s o much homework at the moment. We have to read Pride and Prejudice, which I'm sure is a great book, yet I can't enjoy it properly when we have so many deadlines etc.

I guess it's just this time of year, lots of these things are going round!

Im from the UK too, I have never heard of anyone calling a stomach bug the flu, i have always believed the flu to be a cold type virus with aches, pains, shivers etc. I have had one in the last few days and it did make me feel quite sick, I think it was a combination of chest pains, and that horrible feeling of phlegm. I really wouldnt worry, I go off my food with stuff like this too

Yeah. She's got a bit of a temperature, and I've had a bit of a cold recently, so it's probably something like that.

I know some people who have got sick from the proper flu, but mainly my friend who has the worst immune system anyway :P

It's understandable you'd go off your food I guess, I mean from what you said about phlegm I can relate to- I have chronic rhinitis, which means I have phlegm all the time really. Sometimes I lose my appetite if it's particularly bad.

Thanks! She'll probably be fine in the end.

I'm feeling a bit off still, I'm going in waves of completely not hungry at all to having a massive appetite! Very odd, but I candeal with it.My sister seems a bit better too, thanks for asking
