Is it just me or are all EMETS constantly thinking about catching something? I have shopped for 2 days and been around 100's of people and instead of being in the spirit, all I can think of is GET THE GIFTS AND GET OUT!!!! I hate touching the carts, the pens to sign those credit card things and the aisles are jammed packed with tons of people, coughing, etc. I can't figure out if this is just a me thing or all of us.

Honestly, I think most people feel the same way and are not totally enjoying the shopping experience with all the crowds.

I know that there's non e-phobes that share my hatred of digital signature capture devices.

And the grocery stores here have sanitizing wipes by the door with a
sign that says use a wipe on the shopping carts so I doubt I'm the only
one who uses those. Maybe I am.

I use them too at the grocery and they are usually out of them, so i think others do use them. I touched the handle on the first cart at Target and it was still warm from someones hands. I almost screamed. I was out with my mom since my son is sleeping at home here with my husband and I had a chance to get out. My mom was laughing at how freaked out I got over the warm handle on the cart and she knows I'm and EMET. Yuck, it was gross. Moreover, my sister-in-law is on town and we are going out to dinner tonight at the sushi bar near our house. Yes, I do eat sushi, but I like it to go and not eat it there. Tonight we are eating there and I can't tell her that I don't like eating out. She does know I'm an EMET, but she's a nurse and she agrees that "germs are gross, but that they happen...just be careful with touching hands eyes and nose and you will be fine."

It sounds like you're not letting the phobia dictate what you will and will not do. That's very cool, Gubba.

I know what you mean. We took the kids shopping today and I was
thoroughly disgusted by the time we came home. I also have to take
both of them to the pediatrician tomorrow for well visits - something I
dread more than anything! Yucky yucky, I hate this time of year!

Off topic Gubba, but do you happen to watch Fox News on Friday night?
I laughed when I watched it last night, I thought "I bet Gubba is
watching this too" at 9:40 when Healthbeat came on. I hate it but I
can't miss it either!lol

Peachy...I did not see healthbeat. I hate fox news when they do the "WHAT"S GOING AROUND." That freaks me out because there is always...even in June, an SV. I did watch Fox news on 17 because it comes on at 9 and then I can go to bed early, but I hate that part of the news.

That is so gross. That shopping cart handle that was warm grossed me out so badly. It is 30 degrees here and gloomy and depressing and to touch a cart handle that feels like it has been in the sun all day was NASTY!!! Good news, I now get a cart from outside since my episode yesterday. It took me all these years to learn that lesson.

I know - as much as I hate to see Healthbeat I'm almost in worse shape
if I miss it, lol! For the last two weeks it had just been colds and strep,
but this week every dr. had sv listed. I'm odd, I cross my
fingers every week before Healthbeat and have a little "please don't let
there be sv going around" chant. Dh thinks I'm weird, lol.

My husband laughs at me too. He wants to know why I care...then one night they were talking about the SV in Brentwood and I was going to go into Franklin the next day and I did not go. My husband could not stop laughing over that since he told me that he was certain that tons of Brentwood people commute into Nashville daily and I would have been safer there since those people were probably here. Oh well....I know we are nuts but this is just the way we are.

gubba, me too! *raises hand* I've been out christmas shopping today, and was constantly swerving and dodging people who were coughing (I really hate it when they don't have the decency to cover their mouths), and made sure I didn't touch anything I ate with my hands. The only public loo I was near when me and my mum got lunch was really, in a word, gross, and I figured I'd probably get my hands even germier just by trying to manoever through there withouttouching taps and handles.

The malls are so packed with people this time of the year! Nice atmosphere, but scary for emets. My parents think I'm strange for worrying about shoppingXD I know I'm weird, butI'm having too much of a good day to let it get me down, though!

I love shopping! especially at XmAS! all the pretty lights, so many people out in a good mood, waiting in line can be a drag, but other than that, I love shopping. I dont think about emet at all!
