does anyone ever think about what they would do/give to never get sick or v* ever again?

I told my best friend once that i would rather have to get 10 shots a day (or more) than to ever have to v* again. she said she would rather v*. i would much rather have aphobia of needles.

I've said many times that I'd take low grade n* constantly for the rest
of my life if I knew I would never v* again. Or I'd take a constant cold
    - I wouldn't care a bit if it would guarantee a v* free life!

I prayed that If I ever had to get rid of something bad in my system that it would be d*. I would take d* everyday for the rest of my life if it meant I didn't have to v*... Also Don't wish you had a fear of something else because you would feel the same way about that that you do about v*. Just wish that you had no fears!

I always try to come up with a thing like I would rather live outdoors no matter what the weather than to ever V* in my life. I would rather have a cold and D* for ever than to ever V* again. We are all so nutty...you know others would think we are crazy for even thinking about V* like we do, but if I coul dhave any fear, I would want it to be a fear of ants or spiders would be o.k....you can stomp on them or even look the other way. This V* thing is terrible and everywhere we go people are talking about it or have just done it, or know someone who has, or we just worry that someone will or we will. I HATE BEING AN EMET

A friend of mine had horrible stomach issues and had the surgery that will never allow her to v*** again. She hates that she can never v***. Its physically impossible. Quite frankly, sounds like heaven to me.

I don't think I would want to never be able to if I needed to, but I would love to never worry about it again. I guess we may be lucky and don't realize it.

What is this kind of surgery called, what does it cost and where can I get it done?

I forgot what it is called. I can find out. She had it done because she had terrible reflux and no medication (and she tried everything) worked for her. She suffered for about four years. Finally, she had the surgery done last spring and she feels like a new person. Supposedly, they tie something. Madisonsmom is a nurse. Maybe should could be more descriptive. Again, it sounds like heaven to me. She even knew she could not v*** after the surgery from the anesthesia.

Stella- I know they kind of surgery you are talking about and I've been thinking about getting it for my acid reflux/hiatal hernia. But the thing is, you can still V* after having the surgery. Apparently the only people who lose the ability to V* after that surgery are mostly men who are middle aged and over weight. I knew a guy who had the surgery and he couldn't V* and at one point he tried to do it and he couldn't.

hmmmm....I really don't know if this surgery would be at all helpful for getting rid of a phobia. It may get rid of some of the anxiety- but I think that after awhile, the person would start to wonder "well, what if it's still possible? what if I'm the exception to the rule?". It just seems like a too-good-to-be-true bandaid solution. That, and the odds of a physician performing it without a physical reason (ie- bad acid reflux, etc.) is probably slim (hopefully- but you never know....now c-sections are considered 'elective surgery'- gack).

For me- the nausea beforehand, and the knowledge that I might vomit is so much worse than the actual act itself.....so I guess I would take vomitting once a month- when I know it's going to happen and can plan for it-for the trade offofnever feeling nauseous AGAIN.

lol- isn't it funny that we always classify our phobia as being worse than anyone elses? I have a friend who is scared s***less of spiders- and she says that she would rather have my phobia, (fearof vomit/beingvomitted on)the rationale being the odds of coming in contact with a spider is more likely than the odds of coming in contact with vomit, and spiders are small and can crawl in bed with you...you usually get a warning when someone is going to vomit, its larger and more avoidable. And vomit doesn't have 8 legs and can bite. To each her own I guess!

My boyfriend and I had a discussion the other night about who's phobia is worse. His is spiders. Like I said... You would be the exact same way about a fear of something else. Gubba, I know you think it's as easy as stepping on bugs and squashing them to get rid of them but I asked my boyfriend about this and he can't even kill the spider because then the guts are on your shoe and/ or on the wall or whatever... I guess it haunts him all day...like when we see v* on the street and wonder about all day!. It's funny because he doesn't wish to have my fear because he knows how he feels with his phobia. So funny how we all have weird fears...Edited by: beadgirl

Isn't it horrible how people that have no phobias can be so unsympathetic to those of us who do!? Rhysbethell-- Do you fear the word spider? My man can't even hear the word because it puts an image in his head... He wont sleep at night for days if he sees one!I guess it's kinda like how we abreviate vomit and diahrrea.

The operation you are talking about is a fundoplication. People who have them can never burp or vomit again. Some people who have them get stomach viruses and retch uncontrollably for a long time because they can't vomit. I've never heard of anyone having one as a cure for emetophobia.

I remember a net poll a while back asking whether people would rather sweat cheese or vomit marbles and the majority said they'd prefer to vomit marbles.

I don't know what I would give up to never vomit again. Mostly I just want to be normal and not care if I vomit.

my phobia of spiders doesn't sound that bad, i feel for your bf!i don't have a fear of the word and its becoming more and more under control thankfully, but i still run away from big house spiders. i watched a nature program the other night about them and only looked behind me three times which is good for me! ( i was still itching like crazy tho!)

So what happens if there's an illness if you can't v*? Does it come out
the other end? Cuz let me tell you... That's no fun either. Especially
after the 8th straight day of it... anyone, ephobe or not would want to
    hang themselves.

I noticed a lot of people get this phobia after falling ill. Wouldn't
it be a logical conclusion that there are many people on Earth that
would have emetophobia if they came down with an illness? So maybe they just don't understand how bad it can be.

And about the spiders... I wonder what causes a fear of spiders. I for
one think they're kinda cute and they like to capture and eat bugs and
flies.... and I don't like flies because they may transmit a v*-causing
illness. Unless they are spiders that can bite people.

A fear of flying I understand because that can be scary with turbulence and terrorism etc. But spiders?

Speaking of spiders. I have always been terrified of spiders. It's not as bad as it used to be, but I won't be going out buying a tarantula anytime soon.

BTW, don't go watch KONG if you hate spiders. Supposedly there is a pretty bad scene with spiders.

Hmmm....I think I would rather vomit marbles- because marbles aren't smelly and they would look like marbles- and not vomit. And I think the very smelliness that would result from sweating cheese would be enough to almost make me vomit anyway, haha.

''''Isn't it horrible how people that have no phobias can be so unsympathetic to those of us who do!?''''

Hmm....I think that here you must proceed with caution- because TOO much sympathy can lead to complacency. Phobias are irrational fears- and at times cause people to act irrationally. Having someone who is 'too' sympathetic can validate that fear as being 'okay' and 'normal'- and not push the person to try and beat it. I'm not saying that this phobia SHOULD be invalidated- as it is obviously very significant for the person who has it. Im just saying that there need to be a balance between acceptance and the motivation to help the person beat it. Sometimes I think we all need a little push out of the rut that emetophobia has caused.

Okay...Let em re-phrase that then... What I meant by that is: Isn't it a shame when people who don't have a phobia (therefore can't understand what we go through day to day) Do things like ridicule us make fun of our fear and even say stuff like " Oh, why are you so afraid? it's a natural body function" I'm not asking ofr my fear to be validated.... I just don't want to be made to fell like it's dumb and I need to get over it. If I could get over it, believe me, I would!

Someone makes fun and/or ridicules you???

I would beat them up if they did that.

Then again I don't publicize the fact that I have the phobia to
outsiders. I never let them know my weakness. See I could try to beat
someone up for making fun of my phobia but then then all they would
have to do to fight back is say they have a SV and I will go run and
    hide.

Yeah, I dont advertise the fact that I'm phobic, but I have had to tell people that I work with because if someone gets sick in my store, I WILL NOT CLEAN IT UP! I have to tell my friends or people who ask me to go out to clubs that I wont go out with them because once my friends got v'ed on at a club... I just dont feel liike taking that chance... besides I'd rather drink at home! It's safer... So liriodenron, where ya from cause I could give you a feew names of people I need to have beaten up!I agree with your last comment too! The minute some one says my stomach hurts I wanna cry!

i had a conversation with a girl at work about this. she said some kid pissed in the timeout room at school, and was so grossed out. i was like i dont care if someone pises on me, spits on me poops on me, if they v* on me, im out the door. and then i made the ever famous comment at work "id rather have someone take a sh*t on my foot than v* near me" it sounds gross, but its true. lol im nuts huh

and i am afraid of spiders just as much as v*. my dog v* today and i was sitting there with myeyes closed and my ears plugged.

also, i think v* marbles would be better because when you v* you feel so good afterwards, like so much less sick... and if its not (WARNING GRAPHIC) warm and chunky and yucky tasting and stinky, i dont think id mind. does the v* marbles come with n*? cuz if so, then id take the cheese!
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.
