has anyone ever told their significant other about their emet, and if so, how did you break it to him/her?

    Melody-

I just went out and told him. We were just getting some coffee one morning and I pretty much blurted it out. He must have had some idea though- judging by my reaction to what he does (at the time he was a nurse in pediatrics).

I would just sit him down, and let him know what your emet entails. Also, if it is something that you are working through or planning to get help for, he may want to become involved in the process.

It never hurts to have an understanding partner

(and if, by chance, he isn't- trade him in for a newer model. I know that my boyfriend reacting badly or not taking it seriously would have been a deal breaker)

i agree! just tell him! if he judges you, hes a jerk. it is very likely he wont fully UNDERSTAND but if hes a good man he should try to understand because he loves you.

I blurted it out to my boyfriend after a trip to Great America. He kept wondering why I wouldn't ride rollercoasters (as if, LOL) He gets it completely, though, and has been a wonderful support for me.

I think you should tell him. If your BF loves you, he will do everything in his power to help you. I hope it goes well.

lol- phoenix, I actually am FINE on rollercoasters- which is extremely weird, because pretty much everything else makes me extremely nauseous. I can do any rollercoaster- but a merry-go-round and the ferris wheel make me vomit. It's Fubared.

(on rollercoasters, my biggest worry is someone else being sick.....try to get the seat closest to the front, so I won't get splashback from someone before me)

LOL @ "splashback". EWWW!!! Never even thought about that!

I tend to get dizzy easily so rollercoasters are a big no-no for me. I still go to Great America with him though...and wait in line to watch him ride. Woo, fun!

It is interesting that you get sick on merry-go-rounds and ferris wheels...maybe the spinning motion?

Yep...the spinning, slow, repetitive motion. Makes my head go round and round....until the inevitable. I also get carsick, bus sick, airsick, and seasick.

I know about the waiting in line thang.....my boyfriend volunteered to be a medic at the EX (midway/fair)- we decided to spend a day going on rides- which consisted of me watching him wait in line, haha. There was only two rides I can go on- the bumper cars (which stained my skirt permanently with some sort of oil, which is a shame because that skirt actually gave me an ass), and a mini-drop zone.

I've been to the six flags outside of chicago- a roller coaster enthusiasts dream

I live very close to the Great America outside Chicago! Is that the one you mean? I am not a big fan of the place, obviously, but I have been there!

Yep Mary! been there twice- once when I was 12 (In the colourguard ofa marching band- went to chicago to do 4th of July parades- all the way from bumF*** nowhere northern ontario Canada, haha) and when I was 18 (school band competition).

I think part of the reason why I liked it was because our time was limited- so we went from one rollercoaster line to another- and ran out of time before we ran out of rollercoasters. MUCH better than Disney- too many slow spinny rides!
