IBS sucks...but it sounds like you have something different. With IBS it is more in the intestinal region... you say yours is in your stomach. Have you been checked for ulcers? Acid reflux? what did they test you for?

Yep, IBS DOES suck!! Had it for over 20 years. Yes, it's mainly in the intestinal region...actually it aims for the colon. I do suffer with "some" stomach and digestive issues with mine...so it's hard to say whether your problem is IBS or not. It always "could" be.

Sorry i am not much help for you.

Awww i'm so sorry to hear that, hun!

I practically live with the "running to the bathroom" episodes. My IBS fluctuates between diarrhea one moment, to contipation the next! I'm never surpised anymore how my bowels act, i guess i'm just used to it.

If you're losing weight from it...then as scary as it seems, please get it checked out further. I don't like hearing about ppl losing weight for no reason...unless of course it's simply from not eating! Were you purposely not eating much because of this? I have to avoid certain foods also..first of all, for some unknown reason, i cannot eat eggs anyore without excruciating pain in my stomach..OH it's horrible!!!! Also i cannot have anything with small seeds in it, like strawberries, sesame seeds, tomatoes, corn, etc...ALL of which i LOVE :-(

Sadly, the only way to be diagnosed with IBS is to have many tests done to rule out ALL other possibilities first. I myself, never had all those other tests done to rule out other possibilities, but i wasn't losing weight from it, if anything i was gaining some. I did see my doc about it years ago, but when i desribed my pain and how certain foods make it worse, he just simply felt that i had either IBS or Diverticulitis, or the combo of the 2. Heck, i figure since lived with this for over 20 years, and if it were something more serious than he thought, i woulda been dead by now LOL!

My little guy, age 6, has IBS and is lactose intolerant. He also had acid reflux as a baby and it resurfaced last winter. It was a rough time.

Luckily I don't suffer from IBS, but am wondering if its hereditory, or if you just develop it...I would hate to think I'll bring it on myself through stress, or anything like that. Anyone got any info on it, by chance?
