Well, it happened, I don't know how it happened--Logan caught the BUG, I think!! She hadn't been to school since Tuesday, due to snow, and Wed. the only place we went was Target and she kept her gloves on the entire time we were there, so. . . .

Anyway, last night at 9:45 she came upstairs and said she didn't feel good, 10 min, later she went to the bathroom and v'ed in the toilet---amazing, I didn't have to clean it up!!! A little bit later she felt better, but had this bout of loose smelly poop, and then at midnight she came back upstairs and said she had v** in her hair, she had been sick in the trash can I had put by her bed--a little got on some blankets and the carpet and so I cleaned it up---and it smelled soooooo bad, like sour milk, I thought I was going to die--only 1 other time have I thought it smelled that bad, so I sprayed the END OF MY CAN OF LYSOL---my worst nightmare--and rinsed her hair out in the tub. And then I put her back in bed. I of course had to call my hubby every 1/2 an hour to see when he was coming home!! And then I had Aidan awake crying upstairs and Haley had a bad dream downstairs--all at the same time, and I handled it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am quite proud, but anyway, Logan hasn't been sick since midnight and it is now 8:00 am--hopefully she is ok, but I have heard that this bug, is odd, my lactation consultant's daughter had it last Friday night and she got sick at 2:30 am and then not again until 10:30 am--8 hrs. later, and then was sick every hour for about 4 hours. I hope Logan wakes up fine today!!!!!

Does anyone know about lactose intolerance? I'm wondering if that could have been the problem and nota bug!!!! THanks!!!

Now I am just waiting to see if the other 2 get it,please God NO!!!

It could be lactose intolerance...I know with kids, they V* more easily than adults and that could be it. My son had a bug last month and he did V* every 45 minutes or so for 6 hours and he had fever too. He was fine the next day and thankfully none of us caught it. I know how the cleaning up is...I can't stand it, but my son does not get to the potty..he likes the floor and to tell you the truth, I clean it up and throw out the garbage and I wash up with lysol and we move on.

I am so proud of you and all that you went through and it is amazing how we can rise to the occasion when we need to. I am just like you when it I call my husband every few minutes to see when he will be home. You deserve a BIG PAT ON THE BACK!!!

Way to go! I'm so glad that you handled it well.

About lactose intolerance...my friend is lactose intolerant, right now she basically just gets a stomach ache when she eats ice cream or drinks milk and things like that (unless she takes the lactaid pill) but when she was younger she would actualkly v* after milk. So, if you think that lactose intolerance could be a possibility, maybe you could get her checked out?

I hope everyone else is fine!

Donna, I am so proud of you!

You poor thing. It seems that your kids v* easily anyway...

Madison is lactose intolerant. If she eats or drinks something offensive she gets really bad smelly gas and really smelly loose poops. I mean they stink. She gets belly pains. She has v* once from it but thats it.

What did Logan have that could have made her sick? (if it isnt a bug)

Awesome job, Donna. And, yes, in my experience, parents give their kids milk too soon after a sv, and it can prolong the vomiting. I have read that some of the bugs make you lactose intolerant for a period of time.

    Howdy,

I am sorry to learn that Logan was sick. My son is lactose intolerant and has IBS. Yes, they can v*** from lactose intolerance. Most of the time, they have D** and horrible gas.

Did she run a fever? Has she been sick any more times? Also what about the possibility of strep? I know I mentioned it to cheerio a few weeks back when her child v***, but did not exhibit traditional sv behavior. At first she did not think so, but it turned outher child did have strep. My daughter has had a weird cold since Wednesday and now she is complaining of a sore throat. Tomorrow is Sunday and I plan to run her up to the pediatrician, who has limited Sunday hours, for a rapid strep test. It has been rampant throughout the country these past two months so I don't want to discount the possibility.

Please let us know howLogan is AND how the other two do.

Lastly, strep has a 1-4 day incubation period. It can also take evern more days to actually show symptoms. I learned more than I care to know about strep when my son had it last June.

    Donna,

Awesome job! I am hoping that the rest of your family remains well. (keeping my fingers crossed for you!)

I wanted to kinda add to what stella said.. My friend who is working as a medical assistant said that most of her vomiting patients lately have been testing positive for strep while vomiting has been their ONLY symptom.

    Hey Stella,

My son has had a cough and a fever for a few days and his fever is down now, no V*, but I worry that he is coughing because his throat is sore...he doesn't cough as much after the motrin. Needless to say, his fever is down now even without the motrin. He is 3 and I don't know how to tell if it is strep.

Well, she was FINE all day yesterday, atr normally & everything, then went to spend the night at my mother in law's house, and she drank milk, then v'ed at 1:30 this morning and is now fine again, except for some nasal congestion!!! It's odd--very odd. Hopefully if we keep her off of the milk, then she will be fine!!

We took my daughter to the doctor's this morning (they have two hours on Sunday mornings) and she HAS strep. The pediatrician said over the past two months, one out of two patients who has come in sick with either v**, sore throat or a heavy cough has tested for strep. She said it is everywhere.

Donna1261: If Logan continues to be ill, have a rapid strep test. If its notstrep - great. If it is, atleast you know what it is and can treat it.

Sometimes a milk allergy can cause excessive phlegm...like a rattle in their throat or congestion.
