I was having a really hot bath this morning (I was cold) and when I stood up I suddenly felt really dizzy and couldn't see for a second, there was just kind of fuzzy spots in front of my eyes and it lasted for about 10 seconds. It really freaked me out and I was wondering if it happened to anyone else?

Hi Hannah, don't worry, it happens to me, don't know why but it does. I've had it off and on throughout my life (all 39 years of it!). It seems to either happen when I get up in the morning, or out of the bath. Perhaps it's got something to do with getting up quickly from a relaxed position. Try not to worry though, you're fine!

Changes in body temperature can cause dizziness. I know with my
daughter, if she has been feeling slightly under the weather, if she
has had a bath that is slightly too hot, when shes come out, she has
almost passed out, because her temperature has rapidly shot up.
After 10 or 15 minutes, she is back to normal but its pretty scary at
the time. The thing to do is not have your bath too hot and
reacclimatise yourself to room temperature slowly i,e don't stand up
too quickly and don't parade around naked if the room is quite cold
without a towel. Its nothing to worry about though.

Ok thanks guys - the body temperature change makes sense.

I'm sorry but I had to laugh at the idea of parading around naked when there are 5 other people in my house!

Hot bath will do it!! Happens to me and you would think I wouldn't have it that hot, sometimes I feel so dizzy and sick that I have to lie down on my bed for a bit.

it could be a change in blood pressure too. i get real dizzy sometimes
when i stand up too fast because i have such low blood pressure as it
is, that when i stand up, it goes lower and makes me dizzy.
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.

Yeah that happens to me when I get out of a hot bath sometimes too. I'm sure it has to do with body temperature.

You live with 5 other people? LoL! I used to live with my parents and my two sisters and I would never parade around naked so I got a laugh out of that too.

I'd place my vote on the sudden change in blood pressure (postural
hypotension). I have low blood pressure, so I lose my balance almost
every time I stand up.

Lack of oxygen also seems to play a role. If you hold your breath and
rise suddenly, the dizziness is ten times worse. I've fallen into
cabinets that way.
